I was pre-ordering Alpha Protocol at Gamestop/EB Canada and there the same pre-order bonus as the 360 and PS3 versions. Now, it's disappeared off the page and it was confirmed by support that the bonus is only for consoles now.

Why is that? Why can't I get the cool bonus stuff?

Anyway, I canceled my pre-order, I'll buy it when it's cheaper or when I feel like playing it a lot. Thanks Obsidian for making a PC version anyway!

Yeah I'm Canadian as well... I noticed at Gamestop that the preorder is only for the Ps3 and Xbox version... the PC version receives no pre-order bonus... even called them to verify.

Game companies love kicking PC gamers in the nuts

we will more than likely get the pre order stuff free... why you say? well companies like bioware who are now on EA's leash have to sell DLC but as far as i am aware SEGA has never sold DLC for the PC???

correct me if i am wrong?

I had the same experience - grabbed the PC version expecting to get a bonus, store didn't have any on launch day, and the day after I come back and turns out it's console-only. Kind of a downer, but then I guess getting treated like **** by both publishers and retailers is just part of being a PC gamer these days. It's a miracle I haven't switched to online-only purchases by now, considering how good a job the industry has been doing of turning me off of gaming entirely.

I'm so glad there's a thread about this !

I just game back from a Gamestop, and found out the hard way that only consoles get the pre-order bonus. ;)

Now,I don't really care that much about missing the bonus. What really worries me is how this reflects the slow but seemingly inevitable death of PC gaming. I mean, when I first went into the Gamestop, the guy didn't even know that AP was coming out for the PC !! When I looked at their stock, almost everything was for consoles, and there was one tiny section for PC games, and most of them were used.

It's a pity really, because I'm a PC person myself for a variety of reasons. I think that with the shift to consoles, there will be an even bigger focus on merchandising, gimmicks (like Bioware points), and DLC's. Games will become even more about just making money rather than an art form. Sure, it has always been about money, but in today's console dominated market, the focus is turning to money even more than ever in my opinion.

There will be no more innovation as everyone will fight to create the highest selling version of the same game.Sad, really.
