Another crash on startup problem for TSL

Okay, I reinstalled TSL and can't get it to run.

The intro videos run, and then I get a non-specific crash.

I've tried overriding the mss32.dll

I've tried overriding the video card drivers

I've run it in compatibilty mode

I used a piece of software to force a single core launch, which worked for about a minute before getting another ctd and I wasn't able to replicate it running.

I've combined most of these

running with the 3.0 version of the mss32.dll and running in compatibility 98/ME got it running intermittently, but, it would crash out in a couple of seconds from the main menu

I've tried with and without the 0.1b patch which doesn't really help either.

I'm running Windows Server 2003 (XP 64) sp2

a 64x dual core Athlon 4200

2 gigs of ram

Nvidia 8800GTS (Kotor2 thinks there's a gig of ram, there's only 640 megs)

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?
