Modding games on the Xbox requires you to illegally modify the Xbox hardware itself. I don't think you'll find much help with that here.

If Obsidian were to do that, it wouldn't be illegal, but in order for you to run modified content that wasn't created by official sources like Obsidian on your Xbox, you would need to install a mod chip, which is illegal (in most countries).

The US is most definitely one of them and I'm not going to tell you how to break the law. You'll have to figure that one out for yourself.

Hey, I read another topic that posted a link to LA about modding directions. It said something about softmodding and well, it may be legal because a moderator started the topic.

That post has a link to the LucasForums website, which is not a LucasArts website. It is a LFNetwork website, which is just a fan site, not directly associated with LA in any way.

Moderators are usually just forum members who are slightly more responsible than other forum members, they are not any kind of authority on the legality of anything. Besides, that thread was not started by a moderator, it was just stickied by one.

I had forgotten about the "softmod" option on Xboxes. While not technically illegal, it does still void your warranty and can result in a permanent ban on Xbox Live.
