Hello,

Remember Tribes 2, the awesome multiplayer FPS with big, open maps? Well guess what, it is back(again) after Vivendi shut the servers down on November 3rd. The best thing is that you can get the game for free, no strings attached. Some nice folks have modded the game to run on custom servers and if they can get some players, we can revive this classic. Get the FULL version and the patch here

Viva la renaissance!

Edit: To clarify on the free part:

Starsiege: Tribes (1998) is a first-person shooter by Dynamix/Sierra On-Line, released as freeware in May 2004 as publicity for the release of Tribes: Vengeance.

I remember playing Tribes Vengeance. That was some kick-ass game, but beyond that I never played any other Tribes. Is it similar to Vengeance?

It probably has at least some similarities to it, since they are part of the same series. This is pretty much my first Tribes, so I can't tell for sure.

I just played a good 1.5h and it was great. There's so much stuff in there, multiple classes, weapons, vehicles and buildings you can set up. The maps are huge and it was fun seeing everyone understand how everything worked. I think that everyone should at least try it out. It is a bit like Battlefield 2, but with jetpacks and other crazy stuff.
