February 8, 200718 yr The vista upgrade wont be allowed. Since technically OEM copies are meant to be only sold with new PCs the vista upgrade only applies to new PC buyers. Also I hear vista wont work with Macs. Edited February 8, 200718 yr by Surreptishus
February 8, 200718 yr Yeah, then Home is the way to go then, Mothman. Pro and Media has some nice features, but as you said, you got the Mac OS to handle that and probably way more stable. You could get Home XP OEM for about $90 at Newegg, but Surrie does make a good point about the OEM and Vista limitations. Retail Home XP costs about $190. February 11, 200718 yr Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I have one last question: would you recommend either XP Home or XP Pro? XP Pro costs more, but according to Meta it's an inferior product. I'm mostly going to be using Windows for games, and not much else, so does it really matter? Opinions? Do you have a home network? I doubt you'll be overly inconvenienced by XP Home; just go for it.
