metadigital Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Take a macro picture of a quarter, I'd be curious. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I assume you mean take a picture of real coins, from Her Majesty's Mint. It was quite difficult, actually: this picture was taken without the flash (which completely flooded the image) and not at maximum zoom, which only succeeded in blurring the objects. I don't suppose Sony is the best camera, merely a good (if overpriced) one. Still, not bad for my first camera: next stop a 16Mp+ digital SLR. :D OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
LadyCrimson Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 A lot of the review sites have sample pictures that aren't macro sorts (usually portrait, indoor, scenic) and they're getting so good with the non-SLR digital cameras in a general way that I've been curious. Not going to go run out and buy one myself just to compare w/the SLR tho, so thanks for that. Actually not too shabby considering. And I know what a SLR is, I have one, although mine's only 8mp. The digital SLR's for $800-1600 are pretty decent. I still want those $8,000-12,000+ 'pro' lines someday tho. Har. metadigital Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Looks like yours can do a closer close-up. I haven't read the manual etc, but I think it is only really 6Mp with some sort of interpolation to make the image 8Mp ... mind you I had to make a judgement call in the airport, and I think I did pretty well (well, except for falling for the "Do you want a GB Memory Stick for that?" routine ...)
