Is there a way to keep frame buffer effects on, but turn off speed blur?

I love the effects. They make precognition look cool, stealth looks cool, and my computer can handle it all fine.

But the motion blur from speed is ridiculous. It doesn't look cool, it overdoes it, and it really bothers me. Unfortunately, it's all a package deal.

One of the great things about Speed is that you move faster so getting around is quicker. But that implies a lot fo movement, which is the part where motion blur is annoying.

So, anyone know how to seperate the effects?

I really don't get it, there's enough room for each option in the menu, and I don't know who thought the motion blur as it is was good, but I'm forced to either get no effects, get an aggravating one, or not use Force Speed.

If you're on the PC you can, using an Override file that you place in the Kotor Override folder. If you're on Xbox, than no.

Edit:

I tried googling for it but the original page seems to be gone. So I'll link to the file on my site.

It's a very small rar file, you'll need WinRar or similar to open it.

No you can not. It is the way it is.

Actually there is.

Download Kotor Save game Editor (KSE), and open up your "k_inc_force.nss" file. Now if it's just the force speed effect you want to remove, then comment out (double forward slash) the following line:

eLink1 = EffectLinkEffects(eLink1, EffectVisualEffect(VFX_DUR_SPEED));

EDIT: It's been a whille, so if KSE doesn't let you edit scripts, then try using kotortool.

I like the little file better. I can just delete it or copy it back into that folder at a whim w/out an extra program.

Than you so much LadyCrimson, you have no idea how much you've made my day. And my week or month probably since I'm gonna be playing this again a few times through, having not played the game in a loooong while, and wanting to get back into it. That blur on speed powers hurts my eyes and gives me headaches a lot since it's something I'm very sensitive to nowadays, which wasn't the case when I was younger (getting old...) , and in most games I can just turn off motion blur, but turning off frame buffer effects would have made the quality of the rest of the game's graphics (lightsabers especially) quite worse.

In short, your post allows me to once again enjoy this great game. Thanks a ton.  :wub:
