Im playing this excellent game now and I cant really remember the things youre not supposed to do in order to be able to finish all the quests.

1. Getting the water merchants to go to vault13 is actualy bad isnt it? I seem to recall that causing the mutants to reach it much faster?

2. I nibbed the chip from the necropolis vault when I had 120 days left and took it home to V13, how long do I have before the mutants come? Google says 500 days?

...mm. thnk that was about it. I dont really like how its very possible to accidentally lock yourself out of being able to play everything the game has to offer.

Lock yourself out? How so?

I for one like the fact that the game doesn't let you do whatever the heck you want with no worry about the consequences of your inaction.

Though perhaps the game could have let you continue playing after Vault 13 gets annihilated, but for as open-ended as people like to champion Fallout, it still has a set story that you still have to at least half-assed attempt to complete. I feel they did better with Fallout 2 for "just letting you play."

1 No. You have a certain amount od days to finish doing whatever before the mutants attacks. But you could take out the military base and end that.

2 Don't know. I usually have everything done with the game before I do that except the attacking the military base and the cathedreal..

But you dont really know how some small decision you take could make it impossible for you to play some arc of the story or extra quests whatever. Like how visiting certain places starts invisble timers that youll never know about but will affect the game.

The idea might be replayability but I want to be able to milk out every single quest and thingie out of a game in the first go because my good memory makes it dull for me to replay them unless I wait for atleast 5 years(after which I still remember enough to potentially ruin it)

Meh. I'm a PC gamer that enjoys PC games. If I can play through it a slightly different way (even if it's miniscule), I have no problems with it. When compounded with a game like Fallout, it makes it all the more enjoyable.

The thing I like about all that you said is it makes the world infinitely more believable and immersive. It's WHY I like Fallout.
