June 28, 200520 yr http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....Go.x=27&Go.y=27 You can get a 6600GT for as cheap as $150. They have a refurbished one for $130. That x800 is $240. I could contend the 6600GT is still the sweet-spot for best ratio of price to performance.
June 28, 200520 yr Author there's an x800 pro for $9 more. and it has vivo which means it can unlock to an x800xt by flashing the bios. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Flashing the bios? How do you do that? War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. --John Stewart Mill-- "Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns." --Black Hawk Down-- MySpace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=44500195
June 28, 200520 yr can't remember but there are forums that help with hardware things like that. still, if you could get an x800 pro vivo for $249 and successfully flash the bios to x800xt you could get a working x800xt with vivo for only $249! and if you can't you'd still get better performance than a regular x800 for only $9 more than what you would pay for that x800 you picked.

Tomorrow I'm going to cancel my order with tigerdirect.com. It doesn't seem like the video card will be shipping anytime soon because of backorder. So I'll go with the X800 PRO from newegg.com. Thanks for the help everyone. War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. June 29, 200520 yr Yeah. Tomorrow I'm going to cancel my order with tigerdirect.com. It doesn't seem like the video card will be shipping anytime soon because of backorder. So I'll go with the X800 PRO from newegg.com. Thanks for the help everyone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Flashing the bios can ruin your card, but you should theoretically be able to flash back to the old bios if need be. Also understand that not ever X800 Pro is exactly the same. There are often revision numbers, and sometimes different BIOS versions.
June 29, 200520 yr Author Flashing the bios sounds too risky to me, so I'll probably just leave the card alone. Oh yeah, when I tried cancelling from tigerdirect, they made me talk to a machine instead of a real person I kept saying that I wanted to cancel, and all it could say in response was "I'm sorry, I didn't understand you. Could you please repeat that" <_< Then it finally let me talk to a real person so I could cancel. Not buying anything from there again. But I ordered that Radeon X800 PRO from newegg, so let's hope that works out well War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. July 2, 200520 yr [Message Edited by original poster]. I deleted my original message and would rather post another hint / solution to make the game running after successful installation. I learnt this the difficult way. Regardless of graphical hardware, make sure your DirectX has the full hardware acceleration (if supported) activated by typing in "dxdiag" at the Start --> Run command prompt. Check the tabs in the option for sound for "Hardware Acceleration." After hours of frustration, I figured that out! Game runs now. Immensely pleased thus far with Obsididan's efforts in regard to gameplay.
