ramza Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 I have been wondering if that product was worth the purchase. It contains some miniatures, maps, dices and some of the d&d rules. Since i don't have any "equipment' in order to play a p&p session (i usually on my neighbour for that), i was thinking it would be worthwhile getting it. Has anyone bought it or know someone who has bought it? Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what kind of miniatures one can find in that box (from what i have read, they are non-random) because I want to know exactly what i am buying? Thanks in advance. Cheers. "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves? Dwarves? Ha! Kill'em all! ramza Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 Indeed i have already played d&d, but i just need my own tools just in case I organize some day my own p&p session without my neighbour backing me up with his stuff and books. The d&d basic set is quite interesting as it has everything that is essential for d&d rpgaming. I won't even need to buy the Phb, the MM and DMG since I can download all the rules from WotC's website. I already plan to print those rules so that i don't have to spend all my precious money on the books. I have already thought about buying dices and miniatures separately but my problem is that you can find the latter in random packs. Since you don't know what you are really buying, i thought that it would be better getting the d&d basic set IF (and only if) the miniatures within are worth the 25$ for the whole package. That is why i am asking if someone has already bought that box, so that i could know exactly what miniatures i will find in it. "heroes" and "monsters" are pretty vague terms: it could just be anything and from what i have seen at WotC website, there are some really crappy miniatures. I wouldn't want to get those. Ellester Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 The box comes with the following 16 Miniatures Adventurers: Aramil, Eberk, Regdar, Lidda Monsters: Dire Rat, 4 Kobolds, 2 Skeletons, Wolf Skeleton ,Black Dragon , 2 Orc Warriors, Troglodyte The Black Dragon is well sculpted/painted and well worth the price of box set by himself. -taken from a comment from Amazon.com Life is like a clam. ramza Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 mmm, from what i remember, the heroes miniatures are rather crappy... I just wish i could buy miniatures after being able to choose them carefully... "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves?
