I have ATI Radeon Mobility 9700. I am also using a laptop with a widescreen. The game only covers a part of the screen and I still see windows in the background. I emailed LucasArts tech support. They recommended updating my video drivers and then reinstalling the game. So hey ****, lost all my saved games and configs and did it, BAM, same god damn problem! Then when I said that was unsuccesful they referred me to LucasArts Tech support forums?

 

Why did they rush Obsidian to release this buggy game? And it gets so many good reviews, why don't they print how bad the bugs are and get a patch out....

 

Anyways, I am totally opened to suggestions at this time, 50 dollars for a game and not having it work right or even function at a point display wise I can be comfortable with is definitely irritiating

I can't help with your display problem, but I would suggest that the next time you reinstall a game that you back up the save game files. Just dig around in the KotOR 2 folder, you can't miss them.
