Crashes

Well, I just got KotOR2 today and installed it. It installed fine, started up fine, created a character fine, loaded fine (I thought I was home free). Then it ran the first video scene and froze. I restarted and tried again, same thing...

I have a Radeon 9800 graphics card and KotOR1 ran just fine. Any suggestions?

My video driver is catalyst 4.5.

My specs are 512MB RAM, DirectX 9, Pentium 4....

i hope when you mean Directx 9, you mean directx 9c. lol... i am sure you do.

Also, why don't ya try the latest ATI Drivers. 5.2 (just released)

ATI 5.2 Drivers = http://www.ati.com/home/online/CatalystXPdriver.html

some of the issues found in the Sithlords game were fixed in the later ati drivers, so you should try the very latest version.

BTW, the issues in KoTOR1 that had resurfaced with ATI drivers 4.12 are still present in today's release: lag in Dantooine and Tatooine dune sea... so there might be problems with KoTOR2 as well. In case the problem's not resolved with the latest driver release, try the 4.11 driver release -- that works very well with the first game.

I am still waiting for my copy of KoTOR2 PC to be delivered, so can't verify anything first hand.

I have the same problem! Only, I have a Radeon 9600 card, and it's a laptop, so normal video drivers wont work on it.

I desperately need help. Kotor 1 ran perfectly on my laptop, and I don't see how Obsidian could f*ck it up. I mean, its the same f*cking engine!
