Regarding the Michael Hoenig BG soundtrack:

Here is a clip. Now, in the right audio channel you'll hear a cue from Henry Mancini's 'Lifeforce' score and in the left channel is a track from Baldur's gate, by putting them on top of eachother you can hear just how similar they are.
