V's feedback journal

I figure it might be easier for me to make one post to present all the bugs and annoyances I come across while playing.
Whenever I update the post, I'll put the newest entries on top. I'll put a date, followed by a list of entries.

I play on an Xbox Series S.

  • I've noticed more bugged running behaviour from the buggies since the last 4.0.1 update:

    • Sometimes a buggy won't run after pressing the left control stick (i.e. run button) down. In such cases, I need to step of the buggy and then back on again; then it works again.

    • Same is true for the other spectrum; sometimes a buggie is in a continuous run mode, constantly draining its stamina, without even having pressed the left control stick down.

    • It used to be possible to stop a buggy from running, while moving forward, by pressing the left control stick in again. This doesn't work anymore; if you start running now, you will keep on running while holding L CTRL stick forward, even if you pushed L CTRL stick down to signal you'd want the buggy to stop running.

      • The only way to make the buggy stop running now is to briefly not hold the L CTRL stick forward, basically stopping the buggy from moving at all, and then resume moving forward.

      • I liked the ability to stop running while not stopping the buggy from moving. Especially when my character was still weak it was useful to preserve stamina to run away from danger when needed.

  • It's sometimes frustrating to get the Ladybug Buggy to smash into something (like a pebblet or some tree sap). It might just clip through the object without breaking it. Add to that frustration the facts that:

    • it takes between 1 and 2 seconds to retry each smash

    • a smash consumes a lot of stamina from the Ladybug while it has the lowest stamina amount of all buggies

    • it takes a few more seconds to replenish stamina if it runs out because of failed attempts

That being mentioned, I don't mind the high stamina cost for a smash, especially once you've upgraded your passive ability for it to full, as long as the hits register properly.

In my opinion, it has the same inconsistency as with the chopping behaviour of the Red Ant buggy.

  • After using the "Search" text field in the "Resource finder", on the "map" tab in the player's menu, I lose the ability to select one of the filtered resource options.

    • The way I found to restore this ability without losing the filtered resources is to navigate to another tab in the menu and then return to the "map" tab.

  • In the "craft" tab of the player's menu, in the "Natural Resources" section (bottom section), it is not possible to access the "search" text field via controller.

    • For comparison, in the "Resource Finder" you need to press up from the top most entry to access the "search" text field. But when doing the same thing in the "Natural Resources" section, pressing up moves the selector to the last entry in the list.

    • As far as I know, there's no button to access a "search" text field with.

  • When "sorting" in a container, it only brings all the different stacks closer together + making the biggest stack per item possible. It doesn't actually sort per type of item or anything. For example, I have a container that holds smoothies and dried meats; sorting won't distinguish these two types of items.

  • In the hotpouch menu: when you've acquired the second radial menu and want to access it by using the triggers, holding down the trigger will continuously change the menu. This can be annoying if you just want to press once and hold the trigger slightly too long.

    • Optional solution: make the player have to re-trigger before the radial menu changes again

    • Optional solution: add a delay to when the next radial menu will appear if you keep the trigger held down.

  • In the Glossary / Gathered Documents tab of the menu:
a lot of the time, mainly when using the D-pad, when I want to navigate to "Sites & Wonders" tab, the selection will skip over that tab. I.e. when pressing down from the tab above "Sites & Wonders", which is the "Stranger" tab, it will skip directly to the tab below "Sites & Wonders", which is the "Stuff" tab.

    • I want to note that it doesn't happen all of the time with D-pad, but most of the time.

    • With the control stick it's usually fine. It might have occurred as well, but not while I'm trying it now.

    • To be honest, this whole tab section feels a bit sluggish to navigate. Like there's a noticeable delay or stutter.

  • I find it difficult to get the Soldier Ant Buggy to align with a grass leave or clover consistently, in order to chop it. I feel like there should be a bit more range for where its strike will hit.

    • I also find it a bit annoying having to re-trigger each chop manually. Isn't it possible to have us hold down the trigger?
