King Dozer Buffed?

Featured Replies

Has King Dozer been buffed?

I killed him pretty much in the first day once the update dropped. It was hard, but on my 5th try or so I managed to kill him.

Yesterday and today I tried a second time and it was a nightmare. Died tens of times. He two-shots me, which is fine, but in phase 3 he does a double stomp which kills you if you don't dodge the first stomp, because you cannot avoid the second. And the stomp for some reason Is very hard for me to time my dodge. And I'm playing on mid difficulty. On hard he likely one-shots you with most attacks. And my armor is maxed ... Is he overtuned?

A tip for killing him - poison is great for damage. I use Axl Spear with Scorpion trinket and Axl armor. Even though Axl armor is ranged, it's bonuses are very good for poison damage. Maybe it's not optimal, but works for me. (The issue is not the damage obviously)

Me and my wife are able to defeat him with moderate difficulty. Alone I imagine a bit time consuming and to many mintitos to survive that heat even with sizzle armor and the coolinger mutation. It does seem that bosses need to be multiplayer.

What they need to do "and ark does this" is have the boss difficulty set by how many are fighting. So that even lone wolves can enjoy the game.

Hopefully by the end of this prerelease it will be nerfed. May I suggest Facebook groups for grounded 2 that you can add gamertags or join create boss parties?

I did managed to kill him a couple of times, but felt finicky. Overall the AXL fight is much more enjoyable and structured. The phases made sense, the arena was better and even the boss fitted better. Here the only gimmick is the heat, which if you are alone you either have to:

Tank through it, which by itself isnt the end of the world. Figured that once the boss is below 50% I use the ladybug to tank his attacks so I can fix all pipes and then hit him until he's dead.

Or hope that the buggie keeps the aggro long enough for you to fix the pipe, which considering in Phase 3 the boss one-shots you pretty often, is annoying as hell.

The weapons and shield are awesome, the armor is also pretty cool, but I just don't enjoy the fight that much.

I don’t know if he was officially buffed, but I definitely agree something feels different compared to the first days after the update. The phase 3 stomp timing feels much less forgiving now, especially solo. The biggest issue for me isn’t even the raw damage, it’s how little recovery window there is once you miss a dodge. Like you said, if the first stomp clips you, the second usually finishes the job before you can reposition.

I think the fight is balanced around having a buggy or another player pulling aggro, because solo there are too many moments where you’re forced into pipe management while also dodging near one-shot mechanics. That starts feeling less like difficulty and more like RNG pressure.

I actually enjoy the overall idea of the fight and the atmosphere, but compared to AXL it feels messier mechanically. AXL telegraphs attacks better and the arena supports the fight flow more naturally. King Dozer sometimes feels like you’re fighting the camera, heat, and stomp chain all at once. The gear rewards are absolutely worth it though.
