Recurrent black screen, crash and Fata Errors bugs without overheating or performance issue

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am playing Avowed on medium/high settings on a Aero laptop with 3080 mobile nvidia GPU + i7-11800H.

I encounter no major performance issue. However, the game often crashes, from different reasons.

Yesterday, when I was in Paradis, my character going into water resulted in a black screen and my computer not responding. I needed to reboot, and I did that 3 times.

There was no overheating in my view, the frame was not really hot, and nothing clear was associated with this.

Then, restarting the game resulting in a Fatal Error, the same I've seen in multiple threads.

I reinstalled Avowed. DDU my nvidia GPU drivers. Made sure I had no performance issues in other demanding games at high settings (Starfield,Cyberpunk). But I still get these major performance issues.

So I'm a bit disappointed of course, being a big fan of PoE 1 & 2, and Obsidian works in general.

I hope this gets solved. Really open to any suggestions !

For anyone else struggling with such issues and potential debuggers, I found that a solution for me was to reduce the game resolution to 1440p instead of pure 4K, while keeping most settings on High.

This resulted in stable performance and no such crashes.
