Rysist Posted Friday at 01:19 AM Posted Friday at 01:19 AM The Omnitool is really convenient in fact I love it but I'd like something that I can carry around and swing I think the option to carry around tools, even to your own peril, would be nice maybe I'll get used to it but it just doesn't feel the same I don't know I'm loving the game though keep it up : )
DrSobota Posted Friday at 11:06 PM Posted Friday at 11:06 PM I personally think the omni-tool is a step backwards. Upgrading an alloy tool with random trash makes no sense, but building better axes and tools as you aquire materials made perfect sense! This is a huge L for grounded 2 and a reason why I only have twenty hours on it so far. I just cannot stand holding x to grab any and all resources. Tools were wonderful in G1 when you'd kill a nasty and scan the bits and BOOM you had the ability to make your gear stronger, which fit with every form of armor and weapon in world. Omni Tool needs to go.
Alynxkia Posted yesterday at 02:46 PM Posted yesterday at 02:46 PM (edited) I just want the automatic part of it to go. I want to be able to choose to use it because it wants to activate when I don’t want to use it and it deactivates when I want to continue using it often enough to drive me crazy. I like that we still need to upgrade all functions separately. I do enjoy having the extra inventory space although nothing is preventing the developers from giving you more inventory space to make up carrying seperate tools. It is nice having the hot bar space being able to be devoted to weapons, healing items, and consumables. I greatly miss the visual appeal of all the old tools. I think the omni-tool is boring visually. I suspect that’s why we were decorations with the old tools as they knew many of us would miss them. The decor is like a memorial tribute. Zsword Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I've definitely had a few headaches in trying to omnitool something in cluttered environs or situations and missing the old tool system a bit. I do enjoy the omnitool as a space saver though, especially with the UI. But there's definitely a few too many things wrestling over the Contextual Use key (be it E, or X, or whatever) and its fill pretty muddy. What I would like to see as a potential quick-ish fix is to be able to equip the omnitool as an actual, equippable for the hotbar (with, more hotbars getting added too like Grounded 1) so that if I'm just in harvesting mode, especially for -clay-, I don't have to risk accidentally sipping nasty water cause the same prompt for sip is the same for shovel is the same for mount my buggy who decided to walk directly ontop of me while I was trying to look at the clay node.
