Eora Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I have a similar issue where I run Avowed via the Xbox app on the PC. The Avowed won't launch for me. It does either of two things: The launch art pops up and stays there. I have to use Task Manager to End Task The launch art pops up for abit and the screen goes blank as if attempting to launch the Shader compiling. The game crashed and reboots my PC. I checked the Event Viewer logs under Windows Logs\Application. Filter the Current Log by Error and Critical. What I found is at the time of Avowed hung/crashed is two Event ID: 1000 & 1002. Event ID 1000 is Application Crashing Events. Looking at the info points to GameBar.exe which is the Xbox Game Bar Overlay. Event ID 1002 is Hanging Events. This one points to XboxPcAppFT.exe which is the Xbox app for the PC. The other one I found is SystemSettings.exe which is the Immersive Control Panel. I went into the settings of GameBar and attempted the Repair and see if that works. I am able to run other games (installed and Cloud Gaming) on the Xbox app on the PC without issues. Seems only Avowed is giving me issues. Hope this provide some clue to y'all.
troublemagnet Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I'm getting error 0xc00000005 (number of 0's may be off) crash every time I launch the game. Was able to play on launch. Got it via GamePass Ultimate. Trying a full reinstall now. I'd tried signing in and out of the Xbox app and MS store. Also did repair on those and the game. No luck so far.

ToGo Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I forgot to mention that i reinstalled the video driver several times, i started the launcher with -dx11 and could then create a character, but it stopped right after going to the main game.

This game requires DX12, it will crash under windows 10/11. Intel have started issuing fixes to their processors, well technically they have issued a new microcode to both motherboard / and computer manufacturers. The problem is these new processors where issued the wrong microcode, which caused fluctuations in the voltage to the processors. The more power that goes to these processors the quicker the processor begins to fail. You need to go to your computer manufacturer website and download the latest bios microcode and apply it. It will prevent the processor from drawing the extra voltage it does not need. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, or if you apply this bios update x12B and nothing happens, it means your processor has been damaged by the extra voltage. Intel have increased their warranty to replace any processor that is affected by the wrong microcode and will replace the processor free of charge, with the correct microcode already applied. If you bought the processor only, contact Intel in your country and they will send you a new processor. If you bought your machine, the contact the company you bought it from. Intel have applied these warranties to processor only contact. Motherboard Manufacturers and computer manufacturers. It will cost you nothing to get this replacement processor. Some processors are so damaged due to the extra voltage they can never be fixed. If you have the first 13/14th Gen Intel processors, contact Intel or where you bought the motherboard or your computer, you will be issued a new processor then you can play avowed. The newer replacement 13/14th Gen Intel cpu's work flawlessly playing avowed. Edited February 25 by Hokkaido_Emi
Dave Niemeier Posted February 26 Posted February 26 It' s working now for me after 2 weeks of frustration and trying everything other than a repair install of Windows. I'm on the most recent update of Windows 11Pro with a PC that is well above the recommended specs. Like others have noted the game loaded and played fine on my laptop with lower specs. It would just take forever or would never load. It's installed through Steam. Today the problem disappeared. I was waiting in the other room to see if the game would load and less than 2 minutes later the load screen was up and the game played fine. I have changed nothing in my settings it just started to work. I suspect it may be a server problem on Steam or Microsoft's end.

I am able to make a character and benchmark on Dune: Awakening which is using unreal engine 5.2. It too uses a shader, the difference is the graphics are superior, with no stuttering or anything else. At first I was under the impression this was a processor problem and unreal engine 5, which it can't at all now I have been able to actually use unreal engine 5.2. I am using windows 10 home, and it shouldn't be the problem. I hate windows 11. It has a very low uptake, and it's not surprising why. That all being said, I would ask the developers to look at their code again for the shader setup. This is literally the only game I can't play on this pc. 8 hours ago, Dave Niemeier said:
Slyvion Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Still having this issue after that massive update today....Obsidian was responding to me the other day but it's been 3-4 days since a response on some kind of suppose to fix this issue. Game art pops up, then just goes away. The game technically never starts. I have tried this thru Battle.net and the Xbox App. Please, anyone out there, help me. Sincerly, a long lost Slyvion
The Guildmaster Posted February 28 Posted February 28 We just updated this article on our support site and will continue to do so. Hopefully, it can be of help. Also if you're using an NVIDIA graphics card, new drivers dropped yesterday (February 27 - version 572.60) as well and may help!

Also if you're using an NVIDIA graphics card, new drivers dropped yesterday (February 27 - version 572.60) as well and may help! This issue is NOT going away until the developers actually do something about it. If it was a simple as the list you have provided, I would already be playing on my pc. I have 0x12B, I have checked my processor using the test tool, I have the latest nvidia drivers, there are no updates for my pc at this time. I have created an exclusion folder for avowed so the inbuilt anti virus doesn't mess with it. Many people are having issues with monster world wilds which launched today. I have had no problems at all. I have microsoft flight simulator 2024 on the highest settings, which is known to have problems, and i've had non at all. All I know is, the developer is clearly ignoring this problem entirely. This is not acceptable behavior from any AAA software developer! Please fix the shader,so you know we can actually play this game. I payed for early access by stupidly buying the premium edition because I couldn't play. I truly wish I had never bought this game. It has become common for developers to do as little as possible with games they make, they ignore their customers completely. I thought it was only Bethesda and Electronic Arts who where the developers from hell...I am sorry but I just want to play this game. My pc is working perfectly, I can literally play any AAA on ultra with high frame rates...but this game I can't even get passed it's shader
ToGo Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I have solved my problem today by updating the firmware of my gigabyte mainboard. The game loaded fine now, i can play. Thanks for the tips.
