Serpiko82
I think it would be nice if, at some point, we could unlock the possibility to have a friendly version of one of the droids that guard the labs. The way I figured it, we would be able to assign it to a base, and it would stay there acting as a "butler", helping us with micromanagement. We could order it to do simple tasks such as going to gather X amount of a resource (limited to collecting basic tier 1 stuff, like sap or fibers); or to automatically operate spinning wheels, ovens and such by emptying them when full and feeding them new raw materials until X amount of finished products is done; or to repair damaged structures. Possibly, we could even place blueprints and order it to build them from scratch, as long as it's able to find the required resources within a certain range. During raids, it would provide some help by taking part in the defense (within its possibilities). If destroyed in combat, it would just be "disabled" and could later be repaired with the repair tool. How to unlock it? The way I imagined, in the Oak Lab there would be a few docking stations housing inoperative droids. Bringing chips to BURG.L would progressively unlock the ability to activate said droids one by one by purchasing them with raw science in the shop, and possibly later unlock and purchase new more advanced functions for them (or better droid models). 1

I love the concept of micromanagement in the base. But resource gathering is just a task meant for players, it may be annoying but it’s a part of the grind. But automatically working the grinders and spinning wheels would be very nice, so you could come home to lots of weaved mats. Overall, pretty good idea 8/

You're not wrong, my idea is that the droid would be limited to gathering resources that, by the time you unlock it, have become trivial / obsolete but are still required in high amounts. Think of plant fibers, that are required for bandages and base building throughout the whole game but always need to be collected one by one (unless chopping down grass completely, which prevents regrowth though). Or sap, pebbles. Nothing that requires real effort, but saving us from time consuming trips just for stuff that's easy to find in small bits but scattered all over the yard.
