Peeping at enemies to unlock information was a useful tool I used a soon as I started. I peeped at basically everything. But for some reason now, everytime I peep at a new enemy the pointer goes through them and the new target remains as "???" This is pretty annoying as I like researching enemies and preparing myself with gear before fighting them but now I cant do that. I'm playing on Xbox Series X in a single player world. I'm unsure on how it started, but I loaded my save one day and its been an issue since. I even loaded a previous save to when it worked and it no longer works on that save.

They changed the button to PEEP Creatures from X to RB on Xbox now. Peeping creatures still works, it's just been adjusted so that you're not putting map markers everywhere now when you go to learn Strengths/Weaknesses

On PC you peep with F key, but switch to E to identify.  Took me a while to figure it out. 😉
