Hi,  a good way to introduce a cold biome can be maybe a fridge plug to the cabin or the house with a small hole to get inside and allow the survivor to go inside.
inside you can found frost who allow you to craft a cold back pack to store your cooked food for it to spoil less faster.  you can found spoiled food, juice, and need to a have some clothes to fought the cold that can slow you and remove HP like the sizzling effect.
inside de fridge you can have also  some ****roach (can be a mini boss) on the spoiled food
