Out of memory issues on Xbox

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I am a hard player on grounded (grounded-france user) and I play sometimes in multiplayer mode as host with my best friend which is a hard player too and he play with several other players.
We are playing on Xbox. We had the habit to encounter sometimes crashes with a Out of Memory issue which should be fixed from the latest minor version (I am a french developer so I have few knoledge about these kind of issues).
This issue was really frustrating but a bit acceptable, meaning we had 4/5 crashes per night of gaming (~5 hours).
I had also this issue playing in a solo mode, mostly when I was buildong several structures.
But since few days, this issue is really stucking me. Indeed, I can play one hour without crash if I don't open my select menu (my inventory, ...) Or open a chest. But if I do one of this thing, I will have a crash in the next 2 minutes. So I was mandatory to save each times I was opening my inventory or opening a chest. But now, this issue is so terrible I don't wan't to play until this issue is fixed.
I already properly empty my xbox cache, restarting a lot, ... Etc
The most issue is also, now, if I want to play in multi on my saved game as host, the game is crashing on starting the hosted game... It does even not work when I choose multi mode without other player except myself. But I can start my game in a solo mode.
My best friend too, which is playing since the 0.2 version, encountered since the start the Out of memory issues.
Please, help us to play again to this great game !!
It seems that there are memory leaks opening the menu or reading the stuff data by the game...
I hope to have a quick solution.
I don't know if I can access to my xbox logs to share you my crashes. If yes, tell me the procedure and I will give you all I can. But if you have reports, you can check with my xbox email account johann_levesque@hotmail.com.
Thank you.

Regards

I have a reproductible use case to crash on my game in less than one minute. It seems that the issue is raised by the save, something seems to don't be released as expected in the xbox memory.

We just to start your game, grab a resource, walk few steps, save manually with the start menu, open your inventory (with select) and the crash is occuring...

I've contacted the obsidian support and give them all the information. I think it's related to the amount of data to save, that's why this issue wasn't raised each times as now in the previous weeks...

For the moment, I am saving just before opening menus or chests to avoid to lose what I have done and it's crashing 100% of times.

We will need to wait a grounded patch to fix this really anoying issue... !

Hey Madjestik!

The team is aware of this issue and are continuing to work on game optimization throughout the Game Preview/Early Access development phase. I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this issue has caused.

Thanks, and I appreciate you taking the time to submit a support ticket!

Thank you for the response, I admit I am a bit waiting an update from grounded, a bit sad to don't be able to play with my best friend to my favorite game of this year ! I've seen the inspirated Smalland game and I don't want to migrate to any other game, so I am praying to have news soon !

Without this blocking issue, I would vote 19.5 for this perfect game. I am software ingineer/developper too so, I know how few subjects can be hard to solve, and I think the xbox sandbox is not the easiest to solve bugs on this platform cause we almost working with computers emulators, and I know how Unity is a powerfull tool but how we can loose our time on debugging sessions....

Fingers crossed to have a crossover soon!
