Game causing computer to freeze

Hello there, 

I have reason to believe that this game is causing my computer to lock up. I will be playing normally, no lag or anything, and then the sound will cut out and the whole computer will freeze up causing me to have to force power off. I think that this might be occurring more often in certain dialogues, but I can't be sure about that. 

Here are my specs:

AMD FX 9590 Eight core 4.70GHz

16.0 Gb Ram

Windows 64

Nvidia GTX 980

I'm running the game on medium graphics so that shouldn't really be the issue I don't think. Maybe my computer is overheating? I'm not sure how to check if that's the case.

So sorry, I completely forgot my OS. I'm on Windows 10 Home.
