Dropped food for my friend in multiplayer and it disappeared?

I was trying to give my friend some food in multiplayer, and when I dropped it for her it vanished. I checked if it had rolled down a hill or something, but nothing.

I've never encountered that because I've dropped many things in multiplayer and it was always there. 

I would suggest (for the meantime) placing the items in a container first and then have the other player grab it. Can do for now until that error is fixed.

I'd hate to drop an expensive item on the ground and have it dissappear.

Yeah - I was trying to put things into a container,  but then I ran into the problem with things vanishing when you put something into the last slot.
