I had a large path that I built over the Oak pond.  I decided to remove it so I recycled it from the starting point.   The first panel disassembles and starts the chain of disassembly.   Almost immediately the game freezes then crashes.

I have the same issue. I built an amazing boardwalk high above everything on “unbuilt scaffolding” from the rose garden to the hedge. I messed up with placement a few times. Erasing anything causes a chain reaction which instantly crashes the game. I just loaded the most recent auto save and proceeded. There’s no going back now. I’m just afraid when they update bugs to attack structures more aggressively that they’ll bring down the base, and I’ll be stuck unable to move beyond a crash. For now I built palisades around the base staircase and put spike traps all around it.
