Me and a group of friends ventured into the backyard however experienced some issues:

Spiders both Wolf and Orb Weavers as well as other large enemies do not maintain the health status during combat and seem to actively heal making it impossible to kill a spider.

I noticed that too. If you shoot an arrow at a spider and you are at an elevation they cannot reach, they will run away, heal to full, and lose agro then walk back as if nothing happened.

That makes more sense to me than the spider just standing there not moving while you peg it with an arrow or another weapon until it dies. I would rather them leave that behavior and fix all the times the bugs just stand there and do nothing while you poke them to death.

yeah, you need to bash their heads in. practice blocking against worker ants till you have it down. at least one of you need to be in range of the mob.  The AI is to smart if you try to cheese it, it'll run away, out of range and heal.

The game is not built on realism. Orb spiders have poor eyesight and rely on catching prey that falls into their webs. There is no way they should know that I shot them with an arrow and immediately agro me.

2nd level of base, shooting wolf spider with arrows. It moves half of its body length and loses aggro, refilling health. Impossible to kill. Also ran into a quantity issue with spiders. In one corner of map had 5 orb weavers and 3 bombardier... ridiculous.
