UbiSubject17 Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 (edited) Hi all, first time poster I have an issue with Parvati's quest Don't Bite The Sun. I know many of you have so I'm noting down here what I've tried to do to stop it failing: I'm playing on Xbox One on Normal difficulty. I have attempted this in many ways & it always fails as soon as she tells me she hasn't showered in nigh on a week. The reason is that she was killed. I picked up the first part of her quest when we landed on Groundbreaker. That part went fine. I finished most of the side missions available there then headed back to the ship. She then spoke to me & Don't Bite The Sun immediately failed. I went to a previous save & moved on. After finishing most of the side missions on Monarch, I attempted to talk to her again, this time prompted by ADA who asked me to get Parvati to send SAM down. I went to Parvati & this triggered her mission again but then it failed. I then took her off the ship as my sole companion & tried to talk to her but all she says is 'huh?' & that's all I get. I returned to the ship & she'll speak to me there but the quest will still fail on account that she's been killed. I've tried all the different versions of dialogue available to see if that changes anything, but nothing does. I'm way too far & invested in this to go back to a much much earlier save. This may matter so I'll mention it: I have no option to permanently remove her from my crew. I can only send her back to the ship. Will there be a fix for this because clearly it's a bug? oei_um Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Hey UbiSubject17, Thank you for playing Outer Worlds! I'm sorry for the delay in response and for the issue you are having trying to play. We have our development team looking into it and hope to have a fix for it shortly. We apologize again and thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue.
UbiSubject17 Posted November 11, 2019 Author Posted November 11, 2019 I actually figured out why this happens because I tried to recreate/uncreate it in a new playthrough. In my 1st playthrough (normal mode) Parvati at one point did get downed very early on, but after picking up the first part of her quest. In my 2nd playthrough I kept a very close eye on her to make sure she never got downed. Don't Bite The Sun is fully playable & I believe it's because she hadn't been downed. This playthrough was also on normal. I have a feeling that something in the game coding is incorrectly registering a perma-death when you play on normal. It seems to only happen to Parvati though. Vicar Max & Nyoka were downed a couple times & their quests are still fully playable. Thanks for such a great game though. You've done a 'Stellar' job!
ImmerFertig Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) Yes I think you hit it Ubi. I was talking with Parvati on my ship after clearing Monarch. She talked about having a date on the ship and getting cleaned up. Quest flagged as failed before I could even buy the soap. Looked into the journal and "Parvati was killed." Considering she was standing right next to me and talking, it's probably a variable flag. I know she was knocked down in a couple fights where I survived. In Supernova mode she would have died but I am playing normal. To the developers, just add in a logic line to your follower code that checks difficulty. If not Supernova, always leave the follower dead flags at zero (or one however you indicate they are alive/dead). Easy fix once you find where you are checking that. My quest let's me buy her soap and give it to her but won't allow me to do the next steps, probably because they are not unlocked since the game thinks she's dead.
