I've tried to equip on different characters and every time the screen freezes.  The audio keeps going and the mouse pointer is still visible. I also have frequent probably unrelated game crashes, i have no idea the cause of those hopefully my error report will tell you something

I have exactly the same problem. Game crashes every time I equip Deltro's cage. I get thrown back to the desktop, game sound is still there, but I can't go back in and I need to kill the .exe through the task manager.

Sorry about this bug.  We have it in the system slated for a fix in a future patch.  If you end up getting in a stuck state where you can't progress because you have it equipped and can't get it off, please let me know as my computer doesn't have this issue, so I can take it off for you.
