August 7, 20187 yr Hello, The game crashes whenever I run the game and load at least two of my save games. I can confirm from the logs that the game's trying to call some weird, non-free address space, because the first time it happened, a Chrome tab and an unrelated Chrome extension crashed at the same time the game did. The second time I tried to load the game, Discord crashed. I then tried a third time, but instead of hitting "Continue", I clicked on "Load" and tried to open the second save. Both this save and the "Continue" save are in Queen's Berth. Opening this save, however, killed DWM. I don't think I'm going to try a third time. Two of these crash reports also have a 0KB dump, and one of them also doesn't have an output_log.txt in it. Here's the report for the DWM crash from Event Viewer, which is how I could tell it was DWM: Event viewer reported: The Desktop Window Manager process has exited. (Process exit code: 0xc00001ad, Restart count: 1, Primary display device ID: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti) Here's the bundle with my crash reports and a DxDiag.txt file: crashreport.zip I'm going to run memory diagnostics overnight to rule out a hardware problem, but other games and activities don't seem to be crashing random programs on my desktop.
August 8, 20187 yr Hi anthonypants, I suggest that you do the following: 1. Make sure that your graphics and OS drivers are up to date 2. Verify the integrity of your game files 3. Try running Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire without other resource intensive programs running In the meantime, I'll have our developers look into this given the logs you've provided.
August 8, 20187 yr Author I've run Steam's file validation, and I wasn't able to reproduce the crash on starting the game today, but I was able to get an access violation crash after attempting to load Delver's Row. Attached is that crash report. Then I fired up WinDbg and attached the game, and I wasn't able to reproduce the crash on loading Delver's Row, I loaded up an older save and got an access violation: (6570.77cc): Access violation - code c0000005 (first chance)First chance exceptions are reported before any exception handling. This exception may be expected and handled.PillarsOfEternityII+0xa0a415:00007ff7`486ba415 4c8b140a mov r10,qword ptr [rdx+rcx] ds:00000000`00013ffc=???????????????? I wasn't able to do anything after that, so I detached the debugger and let the game crash. Also attached is that crash report. 2018-08-07_184356.zip 2018-08-07_185332.zip
August 10, 20187 yr Hey Anthony! JLee is looking into the new issue you are having and was wondering if you could provide us with the save before attempting to load Delver's Row. You can either provide a link to your files via Dropbox or you may attach them to an email for us at support@obsidian.net. If you do email us, please link this post and mention your Steam forum username so that we may identify you easily. Thanks! Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
August 13, 20187 yr Author I've emailed the save games and my reproduction steps to the support address.
August 17, 20187 yr Author Using the same reproduction steps from the email I sent, it doesn't look like I'm able to reproduce this crash on version 2.0.1. I'll let you know if I see another access violation crash.
