ok i dont know why this occurs or how but it occurs all the times for me and ive found a workaround.

problem: when starting poe2 the buttons for loading and saving are grayed out, even if u have save files.

workaround: i could make out two folders that build the workaround and are therefore maybe also the problem.

E:\GOG\GOG Galaxy\Games\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\!Downloads\!Cloud Sync Backup\saves

C:\Users\[name]\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity II

these two folders are, as u surely know the originial game save files and the gog backup save folder.

ok now its getting tricky: u can solve the problem, and reanable the loading buttons by playing with the first 1-4 save files in each folder. i always start at doing a backup save with the gog browser, for being sure no save is lost. then the happy deleting, copying and backup game starts. these things i did actually helped: -delete the latest save in game save -delete the latest save in backup save -delete the latest 1-4 saves in game save or backup save -delete one or more "auto save" in game or backup save -delete one or more saves in backup save, manually replace them with game save files, then deleting the same game saves at any given time i let the cloud save replace the deleted game saves automatically, so that i end up with the same saves as before... strange isnt it? i know that sounds strange, but it actually worked every time. sometimes it works faster because i had a lucky pick and sometimes i have to restart the game serveral times, because it did not work. and its annoying as ****. i cannot make out any logic behind that bug, nor the workaround fix. maybe you can.. i hope so

ps. i looked up forums and many people seem to have that problem. not sure if only gog or also steam.

pss. posted the same bug in gog bugtracker

since my save file is too big i cannot upload my save

Hi lauri7x3,

Thank you for posting! Ill get this issue added for our devs to look into the matter, but we may need a save.  A link to a dropbox or shared drive may be a good way to get this information to us.

Best,
