  1. Alright everyone, here's the answer, or at least one of them. Prior to now I had a SoundBlaster PCI. I'd upgraded EVERYTHING except the motherboard and processor over the last two years. The only problem I had was when I started the game, it would only play if sound was disabled, which allowed it to play perfectly, but without sound. Today I stopped by Best Buy and picked up a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Value. I popped it in, loaded the drivers, and it works perfectly. KOTOR2 works 100%. I find it to be absolute trash that I had to upgrade to get this game working, but it works, and I have an upgrade I wanted anyways, not bad for 70 bucks with a 20 mail-in rebate. So there you go. If it's been a long while since you upgraded your sound card, expect that to be Obsidian's next fix... --Princess Chibi
  2. Well it seems that everyone and their mother seems to have their Juris Doctorate in Corporate Law. That aside, this post wasn't intended for general opinions or vague interpretations. This is meant to be read by a member of the Obsidian corporation, and nothing further. --Princess Chibi
  3. To disband the only "line" of technical support available for a bugged new release game is plain irresponsible. I also find it convenient that a patch was announced two weeks ago, and has yet to be presented, but this shutdown announcement is heard and made loud and clear... If this technical forum is shut down without a release, or even attempted release in good faith to the customers of Obsidian, without a patch or rectification for the current situation, I will be reporting this incident to the Better Business Bureau. I don't mind waiting for a patch. As a consumer I accept certain things when purchasing a product. But I will not be ignored with a legitimate concern, be told that it will be addressed, and then have all lines of communication cut off so that Obsidian Entertainment holds no copability or accountability. And to do this with a Star Wars title is just beyond contempt. Fix your errors first Obsidian, then remove your contact information. Not all of the consumers waiting for this patch are children...
  4. There are lots of bugs for this game, I can plainly see that. But those who haven't even gotten the game to work yet, have no idea what they're missing. I'm SITTING AT THE FIRST RUN-IN WITH THE SITH!!! I know when that door closes there's got to be a lightsaber igniting sound. I feel it in my bones. And I REFUSE to play this game one second past that point until Obsidian figures out a way for my game to play with the sound on. It runs perfectly, PROVIDED THE SOUND IS DISABLED in the game config. I didn't pay $50.00 for a game without sounds. Where's my other $25.00? And I most especially resent the fact that with this bugged a release, Obsidian and LA's staff have taken the weekend off. I understand people have families, but when you botch as large a project as this, you should be pulling 14-hour shifts over the weekend to spit out a patch by Monday addressing as many of them as possible. My system has optimal configuration, and a video card supported for this game. There is NO reason I shouldn't have sound while playing. To release a defective game, whether knowingly or not, and to then take the Gold weekend off without anticipating this is such poor customer service. This is a Star Wars game, how many people did Obsidian really think wouldn't buy it? My system can run nearly any game on the market and still more going forward... If I'm having this issue, I can FULLY see why plenty of others can't even get past the installation. Please address these issues quickly Obsidian. I'm in the entertainment field as well for a multi-billion dollar company. And I smell a letter to the Better Business Bureau on this one. --Princess Chibi
