  1. And Lucas Arts is sitting arpund with their thumb in mouth

Oh no, on the contrary! LucaASS Arts is working very, VERY hard to ensure that the movies really do play, and the sound really does play. If you were part of LucASS Arts Q&A team, you'd see this for yourself.

*QA employee*: Hey, can you hear the music?

*Another QA employee*: Ummm, I think so, let me keep listening, we've got to be absolutely sure.

*Yet another QA employee*: Ummm....I'm pretty sure it really is playing, I mean, I can like, totally hear music...

*First QA employee*: Are you sure it's music? All I hear is various instruments working together in an organized fashion. Are you sure it's really music?

*Second QA employee*: Well, it has to be music, I mean, that's what music is. Now the question is, is it the right music?

*First QA employee*: Well, we'd better send it back to Obsidian to have them check, then we can start the process over.

    *Weeks pass*

*QA employee*: So, I geuss we better send that patch to Obsidian now.

    *Another month passes*

*QA employee*: I just sent the patch to Obsidian...wait, whoa!! They just sent it back to me!! Man the're fast! I barely had a chance to finish my donut.

*Second QA employee*: Well, let's check it out next month...I am going on vacation!

    *Another month passes*

*QA employee*: O.K., let's start checking the movies.

*Third QA employee*: Umm, o.k. Let me start the game.................damn pentium 2............

*First QA employee*: O.K., it looks like the movies are playing, but let's watch them a couple dozen times to be sure.....

*Second QA employee*: Yup, it looks like they are playing....well, I think they are playing......let's get our eyes checked, just to be sure......and make sure all Obsidian employees do the same......

*Third QA employee*: Yea, we need our eyes checked, then we can watch the movies another few dozen times just to be absolutely certain that they are really playing....man this is a tough job...

    Etc, etc...into infinity...

  2. If they wanted to do a patch they should have kept quiet until release its release.

I strongly dissagree. If they hadn't told us that a patch was imminent, we'd have even more people screaming about crap customer service. Imagine what these guys would feel like if they thought a patch would never come at all. It would be chaos.
  3. NWN is pretty good, but I hear the BG II and PS:T beat the tar out of it... How many official expansions to NWN are there? Are they worth getting before I check out BG and PS:T?

Neverwinter's expansions are decent, with Hordes of the Underdark being the favorite.

However, I'd wholeheartedly take a trip into Planescape right away if you've never played it before. The writing and story, along with dialog options (if your character is intelligent) are enough for you to jump right out and get it immediately.

Give Planescape a chance to get a bite on you (doesn't take long) and boy are you in for one HELL of a treat!!! Go now!!!

  4. Please stop it with the flame war.

I had endless bugs with Nvidia and i don't get them anymore.

the only time i get problems is when the sodding developer of the game doesn't code it properly to run right with ATI.

It is the devs fault NOT ATI or Nvidia.

Ooops. Sorry. I didn't intend a war (probably should have left my 6800 out of it. Again, I am sorry. A flame wasn't the intent, though it was easily taken as such.

I did notice that you actually agree to some extent, however, as the quote below illustrates, in reference to a different bug.

But If ATI doesn't get off its' ass and fix the glow problem in their drivers, i will be forced to stop using the 4.3 dll file that fixes it since the X800 cards aren't support in the 4.3 drivers

Gamma issues have been documented over and over and have been around forever with ATi. That is the only thing I really wanted to adress.

Both companies have many bugs left to squish. I just have yet to see any with my card, and am very greatfull.

I came up from a wonderfull 9800Pro, which, aside from having a defective memory chip, was a great card. Doom 3 exposed the defective chip, as it fills the whole frame buffer. I enjoyed it till then.

  5. The gamma is still broken too .......... everytime a level transition and the game graphics engine is reset .......... the gamma goes to very dark and it got to the point where sliding the gamma / brightness slider backwards actually makes the game brighter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Blame ATi. They've had broken gamma in their OpenGL drivers for a VERY long time.

6800GT runs this game flawlessly for me.

  6. This makes me question the hardware of those who can't run the game.

My AthlonXP 2500/Geforce 6800GT/1gb ram/MSI nForce II Ultra mainboard system loves this game.

I've played for many hours on end now and have yet to see it crash, become stuck or have anything go wrong with it, whatesoever.

All this and the grapgics settings are maxxed out and running at 1280x1024 with 4xAA 8xAniso. Butter smooth, almost all the time. This is with v-sync, even.

I love this game, and can't wait to start on my Dark Side character.

  7. The game was alright.

Alright for sheer excellence. I friggen love this game, and have yet to encounter any problems, other than being confused when my party wasn't with me. It was my error, not a game bug.

Seems to like being maxxed out on a lowly AthlonXP 2500 machine with a

BFG 6800GT. Flawless operation, for hours on end. I can hardly peel myself away from it.

    15 thumbs up. :D

  8. I had just returned to the Ithorian Compound as the B4D4 droid with the incriminating data on the Cserka corporation. After dropping off the data pad to help the Ithorians (I am playing Light side right now) I get my main character back, but he is by himself.

I headed back toward my apartment to see if the rest of my party was there, and on the way was contacted by an Ithorian about an assault on the compound that occurred when I left.

On returning to the compound, I find it full of baddies, and it seems nearly impossible to fight them all by my weakling self.

Am I supposed to have my party at this time, or is this a bug?

I hope someone knows. Thank you!

  9. Not so veteran yourself, SW fan...100+ posts is nothing.  Yes, that includes me.  He appears to be genuine.

Read his other posts. He just tags random rubbish on the end of a thread.

I am genuine, and also wonder where you are getting the "random rubbish" thing from my 5 (now six) quality posts?

    Enlighten me, would you?

<edit> Apparently my avatar is intimidating some people, therefore I have changed it to my daily driver.

  10. To you I deliver a piece of advice, don't wait, start playing.  Trust me, no bug in this game makes a patch mandatory.

I'm playing Kotor1 atm, and don't let anyone here say that Kotor1 had less bugs then Kotor2.  Kotor1 is actually capable of crashing your PC, something that, try as it might Kotor2 cannot achieve.

Is the crash to desktop just a clean crash, or does it give you an error message each time? I am using XP Pro, an XP2500 and a 6800GT. The system has been flawlessly stable with everything I've thrown at it.

I am a bit of a clean freak with my PC, and I just want the smoothest operation out of the game.

It has come to my attention that a developer response was made in the neighboring "you guys suck, where's my patch?" thread, and this is good feedback.

I sure would like to know the current status, however, so hopefully Obsidian can wile the info out of LucasArts. I know for a fact that posting on LA's board is 100% futile. It isn't futile here, however.

Oh, and to a previous poster, no, I will not take it personally if I don't get a developer response. It was worth a shot, but I am sure they have their hands quite full at the moment.

  11. Your wasting your energy typing that. They don't like to listen to us. Wait for the mod...

Correction, they don't like listening to rude and irrational people who just rant and rave and complain.

They may not mind responding as much when the requests aren't so negative. These guys are awesome, and I truly believe they care about their "good" fans.

*now I just hope my avatar doesn't scare them off!*

  12. Hi there Obsidian!!! Thank you so much for the many excellent products your wonderful people have provided us over the years. Knowing that many of your staff are from Black Isle Studios (and some from Bioware?), I have great respect for your team and the seemingly endless talent and creativity they possess.

I have been reading much about your current latest offering, KOTOR II, and have come to realize that it is yet another great example of your outstanding capabilities as a premier developer.

I had been raving about KOTOR II to my girlfriend and she jumped the gun and bought it for me. I was floored, and quickly became very excited to fire it up and witness your latest work. So, I hopped on the web and proceeded to look for a patch (I do this with every game right when I get it).

Seeing that none was available at the time, I began reading a few threads about it, looking for common problems that I might have so that I could possibly avoid them. It then bacame apparent that LucasArts performed a "Force push" on you guys and made it impossible for you to wrap up many loose ends in the quests and otherwise.

I know it wasn't your fault, and am eagerly awaiting a patch before I play, as I want to experience the game the way you MEANT for it to be experienced, at least the parts you were able to finish. I am not expecting you to finish the work that you had to scrap, but I do want what you did finish to be as good as it can be.

So, I ask humbly that someone from your team gives us a quick heads up in terms of what you know about a possible ETA on the patch. Now, I've read that it's been sent to LucasArts for QA, so I don't know if you've even got the scoop on it yourselves anymore, but I/we would love to hear anything you have on it.

If it's probably just going to be a few more days, then I will wait to play, and if it's longer, I don't think I'll be able to hold out, thus I really want to know.

You've always been really good to us, so, no matter what happens with this game, I will always buy your products. You are one of my favorites, if not my favorite developer.

Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to bringing something truly special to your many fans.

    Sincerely,

    Adam.

  13. Why some people will react with insults to my posting and some won't? I don't really know and I sure as hell don't care. I always answer the same to this kind of argument: there is the ignore function in case you don't like the content or tone of my posts.  I am but a simple software pirate and an FPS griefer, please leave me to ph14m3 h4p!355 n00b5 !n p34c3.

There man, I fixed part of your post. Don't want you misrepresented. :p
  14. I've got only one question to Obsidian. *Why* haven't you fixed all those bugs the XBoze version had? :[

You guys keep forgetting that it is LucasArts that pushed these poor developers into a frenzy. Greedy-Ass LucasArts is the reason the game doesn't seem quite finished. A patch may very well see new content added, and definitely it will crush bugs.

Now that the game is out, Obsidian can patch it, and put the polish they wanted on it to begin with. These are top tier developers. They have brought us some of the sweetest gaming ever over the years. Do not underestimate them, and do not disrespect them.

Go bomb LucasArts. They do this to games a LOT. They don't care if it's quality, they just milk as much cash out of the battered StarWars franchise as they can get away with.

I really wish publishers would allow more time, and let people working on games think more creatively with a bit of breathing room. And for Christ's sake, don't announce your release date until things are pretty much wrapped up!!!
