    The announcement only says Xbox and Windows - and I highly doubt that Microsoft will put in any effort to release it for Linux navitely. But since it's the Unreal engine you will be able to play it on Linux via Steam Proton soon enough I guess. At least I didn't encounter a game that I couldn't play via Proton at some point after release.

  2. It sucks because I've been playing DeadFire since day 1 and installing all updates immediately upon release. Starting with the 2.0.1.0034 to 3.0.0.0018 patch I haven't been able to install them. The GOG installer themselves wouldn't allow me. With the above patch the error said that there was a version number mismatch, which was incorrect. I was running exactly the correct version. I reinstalled the game from new to 3.0.0.0018. Now 3.0.1.0026 says that there's an MD5 sum error. I can confirm that the download was not corrupted in transmission as I did it from multiple browers with the same result.

    We come to you today with a new DLC, some new features for the Base Game, and a collection of fixes to some issues the community has reported. Please see below for the full patch notes of version 3.0.0

    New Features & Updates
    • Seeker, Slayer, Survivor
      • The second DLC has the Watcher journey to the island to Kazuwari in search for some answers to a mysterious package...
    • New Berath's Blessings - New and exciting blessing come in to add some interesting replayability to the Deadfire:
      • Loaded Pockets - NPC pockets are filled with more and rarer items.
      • Legendary Crew - 3 Veteran Sailors become available in the Kraken's Eye tavern, they are better than normal and cheaper than normal.
      • Discount Craftsman - Crafting and enchanting costs are reduced.
      • Mythical Discovery - Start with a Mythical Adra Stone in the prologue armoire (free upgrade from Legendary → Mythic Quality)
    • New Ranger Abilities - Five new Ranger abilities have been added to the Ranger's arsenal of skills:
      • Hunter's Claw - 2 Bond Full Attack, The first target hit with this grants +1 Accuracy vs the target's Race until Rest. Subsequent hits against the same race will increase stacks (up to +20). Resting clears all stacks and allows a different race to be chosen.
      • Hunter's Fang - Same as Hunter's Claw, but also grants +1% Damage per stack.
      • Beast's Claw - Same as Hunter's Claw, but also grants +1 Defense per stack.
      • Bonded Fury - 3 Bond, Grants the Ranger's Animal Companion all 6 Tier 2 Inspirations, for 30s.
      • Heart Seeker - 4 Bond, Primary Attack (Ranged Only) Fires an unerring ranged attack that strikes all characters in a line, dealing +100% Damage with +4 Penetration and Enfeebling for 20s.
    • Megaboss Battles - Megabosses make their debut with the first to make their way into the game with the first boss included in the patch; The Crystal Empress! Test your mettle against one the toughest fights within the game.

    • Kill Camera - A new feature has been added to allow for some excitement to combat! Kill Cam will exemplify combat with key events! This feature will include options to customize how it works and can be found in the new Camera Tab of the Options Menu.
    • Eothas and Galawain's Challenge - Two New exciting Challenges will be coming in with this patch from Eothas and Galawain:
      • Eothas- The player must complete crit-path quests within a set game time or be met with a Game Over.
      • Galawain - Beasts now contain random buffs that are defined at the start of the game, for the duration of the game! Can you survive these dangerous new changes?

        • Vampiric - Heal from damage dealt[/font][/size]
        • Reflecting - Reflect damage back as Raw
        • Unstoppable - Cannot be interrupted / Immune to Afflictions
        • Exalted - Gain Permanent T3 Inspiration (random)
        • Vengeful - Gain stacking Power Level when a friendly is killed
        • Accelerated - Attacks much faster
        • Bullish - Attacks interrupt and knock back
        • Hardened - Additional AR and Max HP
        • Prowling - Invisible (until attacks) and re-stealths if scoring a kill
        • Volatile - Explodes when defeated

    • New Community Pet - You all voted and the tallies are in! Nebula the Astral Bat is now available in game!

    • Recently Used Spells - Frequently used spells are now remembered and displayed in the UI, so searching through your high list of spells should be a little easier to manage.

    Resolved Major Issues

    • Characters no longer get stuck in an endless animation loop when using certain abilities with Two-handed weapons.
    • AI Options for Ghost Animal Companions now work as expected.
    • Many older saves that were not working previously due to conversation bundles now load as expected.
    • Various frame-rate fixes for players that experience drops during extended play.
    • The Enchanting Menu does not display when the Crafting Menu is opened.
        • Tekehu no longer prevents progression in the Shadows of Nekataka quest if placed in reserves.
        • The Ukaizo Guardian now spawns correctly when it should.
        • All abilities now work as expected in the Behavior Editor.
        • End Game Slides now work as expected when on the Atsura slide.

    User Interface

    • Mod Manager displays correctly in the Options Menu.
    • The Producer's Sword shows up correctly for Mac Users.
    • Alcoholic Beverages no longer display missing strings.
    • Consumed resources for ships are displayed correctly.
    • Galawain timers fixed to the correct time in early sections of the game.
    • Adventurers in towns now show the correct data.
    • The conversation window is no longer obscured if opened with the ESC button during a dialog.
    • All interface layouts now display the UI notifications correctly.
    • TEMP text no longer displays for Magran's Challenge.
    • Menus no longer overlap in Ship Combat.

    Quests

    • Director Castol has had his conversation fixed for typos.
        • Eder's reaction is no longer triggered by his own dialogue line during Burning Bridges.
        • Players can no longer kill the Bardatto family and make peace afterwards
        • Belda now holds her pistol correctly during the Bardatto Vault quest line.

    Systems Updates

    • Full Attacks with recovery-based weapons and a firearm in offhand no longer have a 0 recovery time
    • Rods now deal the correct type of damage when attacking with them.
    • Attacking destructibles from stealth now properly removes stealth from the attacker.
    • Auto-Attack As Default Action toggle has been implemented to AI Behavior.
    • The Crookspur Vessel will no longer continuously attempt to engage retreating ships.
    • Druid Shift forms no longer crash the game when inventory items are moved.
        • All abilities will now work when using Whispers of the Endless Paths.
        • Lover's Embrace no longer contains typos in its stat block
        • Ball and Chain's "Irrepressible" efect does not activate on resisted effects.oh w
        • The Armor Invoice from Rowen no longer has a will keyword incorrectly.
        • The Drowned Kingdom now contains the correct end state if the King refuses to leave his realm.

    Art & Visual Updates

    • Portraits display correct images when playing the game in Linux. 
    • All Pets use the correct model that is expected.
    • Spiritual Weapon VFX now properly aligns with the model.
    • Orlans ears display correctly when wearing the Acorn Helm.
        • Cadhu Scath Shield now displays the right texture on the inner side.
        • Uto's model reflects the correct eye is missing as mentioned in his conversation.

    Miscellaneous

    • Data is no longer carried over from previous DLC playthroughs.
    • Performance no longer drops when viewing Spiritshift model forms in the Inventory Screen.
    • Crew member models no longer spawn at the same point simultaneously.
    • Ikiuq Crew member now displays his correct model in game.
    • Loading a save after a character dies in combat no longer results in an infinite load screen for Mac users.
    • The default text box displays in the selected language at launch.
    • Combat Log displays in the language selected when changed in game.
        • Combat does not immediately start in the Balefire Beacon.
        • Chloe pet's name matches its stat block.
        • Xaurip Wildgards no longer get stuck when casting Wicked Briars.
        • End game Narrator VO no longer plays twice during one slide.
        • Updated Romance triggers for Maia and Tekehu to fire after specific quests during gameplay.

     

  4. Issue Report:

    Description:
    When attempting to travel to Crägholdt Bluffs, the game crashes to the main menu while the location is loading.

    Steps to Reproduce the Issue:
    1) Be in Caed Nua.
    2) Go to the South East travel location.
    3) Click on the button and select Crägholdt Bluffs. No changes were made to my party composition, which included: Eder, Kana, Sagani, myself, Aloth, and Durance.
    X) The game crashes to the main menu while loading Crägholdt Bluffs.

    Throughout the stronghold are containers of various kinds - bookcases, vases, boxes, chests, etc., the majority of which we are unable to select/interact with. This greatly detracts from my ability to roleplay the stronghold as my home. Given that I can pick up such a great variety of goods throughout the world, it only makes sense that I would be able to store them appropriately in my home. Please, make it so that a great majority of containers are usable in the stronghold. It would increase my enjoyment soooo much! Also, while you're at it, please make sorting the containers enjoyable as well. Sorting scrolls by name or level, books alphabetically or by series, e.g., part I, II, III, IV... Please, the more containers, the greater variety, and added sorting/viewing mechanisms would go such a long way!

    I definitely support this, here's why:

     

    I set up my auto-pause settings for maximum (to my preference) granularity of game control. I pause on hidden item, enemy spotted, combat start, and ability finished. As a matter of fact, perhaps the primary reason for me pausing on an ability finishing is because I find it unacceptable that my characters just stand around looking at my party being attacked by 10 beasts, just because they finished casting a spell. "Oh gee, it's lovely I just cast slick and knocked those 6 ogre prone. I think I'll just stand around and support a full party wipe." Every character in my party falls prey to this so in essence I'm forced to use pause on ability finished.

     

    What sucks is that my being forced to use pause on ability finished to circumvent this issue, causes the very problem which the OP describes. I manually press pause during combat to reconsider my tactics and change my decisions. When I intend to pause the game and press spacebar, I don't want, I absolutely don't want the game unpausing the game because it just auto-paused on a finished ability. I micro-manage my party with this style of gameplay, and this bug kicks my granularity where Eothas don't shine.

     

    This actually isn't a micro-management problem for me. For me the problem is my characters not using their default attack after using an ability and just standing uselessly around. If Obsidian made it so, for example, after my wizard casts flying pony, they afterwards start using their wand, problem solved. Until then I'm forced to auto-pause on ability finished so I don't risk losing my only Trial of Iron save because my characters are picking each other's noses while 6 ogres beat me silly.

     

    Please default to characters auto-attacking on ability finished and change the way auto-pause + manual-pause is implemented against intended player behavior.
