  1. Okay I guess this one can be marked as "SOLVED" although for no good reason. Here's what I did: 1. Stopped playing PoE, installed new game (Darkest Dungeon, highly recommended!!). 2. Tried to patch PoE again after about a week. It took off like a shot and worked like a charm. Why? No idea. 3. Started playing PoE again. So there you have it. Can't think why patch failed and then why it worked. Passage of time? Probably I did something different, but not sure what. Maybe PoE noticed Darkest Dungeon in my directory and said, "Whoa, I've gotta get back on the job!" So now I've got two excellent games going at the same time. Fine.
  2. RANT: would it kill Obsidian to put something on the front of the game page that says "go here to patch your game" -- good god I can't believe how difficult it is to find out where to locate a patch file -- END RANT I tried to apply the patch for KS backer DVD 104 to 203 (the only patch I could find, finally discovered it thru google) -- got an immediate error message and pulled up this text from something in a nearby folder: Applying DFC Update for 'PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\localized\ko\text\conversations\00_dyrwood\00_bs_celby.stringtable' DFC Update Complete! Applying DFC Update for 'PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\localized\ko\text\conversations\00_dyrwood\00_bs_cultists_01.stringtable' DFC Update Complete! Applying DFC Update for 'PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\localized\fr\text\conversations\00_dyrwood\00_bs_cultists_02.stringtable' Error: err0007 - I/O operation failed (open) BTW really enjoying this brilliant game -- but -- haven't played PC games since mid-90s because of hair-pulling frustrations with endless problems re patches/updates/install/crashes etc. -- switched to Sony PS/Vita and never looked back -- until PoE became a KS thing and I decided, oh what the hell, I'll give it a try -- will I regret that decision? Starting to . . .
