idea for a good kotor 3 ideas
Darth Cake replied to drsmartazze's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Dear Future Devs, For KotOR3, I want... 1. option to choose between Jedi Guardian/Sentinel/Consular, but also Soldier (Echani/Mandalorian subclasses would be nice), Scout, Scoundrel, and Tech Expert 3. options to choose races! 2. to make my own droids, including personalities 3. expanded influence system 4. even more expanded weapons customization (tho it's ****ing awesome in 2) 5. more and cooler minigames! 6. more npc development/interaction 7. the chance to turn bad guy into good and get them in my party (think Magus from Chrono Trigger) edit: nvm, on second thought we already got this 8. to kill or study under Revan and the Exile! edit: and for #9, would you please add a "very difficult" and "super difficult" in order to make the game somewhat challenging? I'd like to die at least once or twice before winning the game, thanks edit: for #10, make single sabers worth using, plz -
No way, Kreia is just a bitch. The Exile and Revan would have 0wned them too.

I just watched the original trilogy and... The Exile and Revan would have wiped the floor with Vader and Palpatine at the same time. I mean, crap. Palpatine zapped Luke with a little bit of force lightning, but the exile would have been zapping every body and every thing in about a 2 mile radius for like ~150 damage. C'mon! Master Speed? Just nasty. Force Enlightenment? Palpatine's head would have been chopped clean off. I mean, Palpatine was a manipulative bastard but Nihilus can destroy whole planets, no Death Star required. I bet Vader would totally fail his save against stasis field, or even kill, and definitely force crush. Who's choking who now, Vader! Ha! There is this one part... I think the same applies to Revan and the Exile vs Luke, Vader, and Co. Not Yoda though, Yoda is hard core.

Who Do You Think Should Make KOTOR III?
Darth Cake replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Referring to Akari's posts earlier: Akari said that they had originally intended to release XBox version in Feb 2005 Also said that the development house had little say in when it was released In August, it was decided that XBox version would come out in December So basically, at the end of July they were like: okay, we have 6 more months to work on this game (August - January) In August they were told that they had 4 more (including August). If the decision was made at the end of August, it was more like 3 more (Sep - Nov) For a game that didn't take that long to develop (old engine and such) cutting two months off the development time is going to make a difference, and I think that manifests in the cut subquests and bugs and such. I don't blame Obsidian, I hate Lucas. For KotOR 3 - Obsidian, definitely. But Lucas Arts needs to not screw over the gamers this time. I think Obsidian should be saying something to LA, because damn Obsidian is a new company, and KotOR 2 was a huge release! When KotOR 2 comes out with bugs and glitches and major crashes, it makes Obsidian, a new company struggling to make a name for itself, look bad and that can seriously affect their future business. KotOR 2 is a bad ass game with a few annoying bugs here and there (better and worse for some people) but it is still a bad ass game. Mad props to Obsidian and I hope they do make KotOR 3, but only if LA gives them time. -
It seems that devs have been kind of active on answering like really basic questions, but they refuse to comment on the bugs and glitches or the possibilities of fixes. I understand that they probably can't because jobs and contracts and other important stuff is at risk. Basically, if one of them could just maybe indulge me and everyone else: Is there any chance that a newer version / international version / whatever will come out for the Xbox with bug fixes?

Will Obsidian provide new discs?
Darth Cake replied to mrtauntaun's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Umm, this is speculation... but what about a class-action suit? I mean the game went gold and is very popular. Is it feasible? I will have to ask my parents, they are lawyers. What u think? edit: lol i almost forgot, you would have to sue LucasArts -
*** Post your bugs/problems here ***
Darth Cake replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This is just a tip: I was over at EBGames yesterday, trying to exchange my disc for one that would fix the bugs (didn't work , but anyway) they offer a deal where you can buy insurance for a year on the game for like $3. So, if you bought your copy at EBGames, it might be a good idea to go over there, insure the game, and then maybe return it if they do release a next-gen disc. -
I can't say anything to either Atton or Bao Dur except playing Pazaak or asking for shields. It seems to me that it may have stalled, since I am on my first planet now and Atton hasn't said much since Telos. I exhausted Bao Dur's initial conversations, the ones: And he hasn't spoken much either. Is my game bugged?

Was the Xbox version a Christmas rush job?
Darth Cake replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hear hear, Vyperhand! I agree totally, and that is good information about the Gamestop worker. It's also good to hear that a dev is looking at the board. I wish he could say SOMETHING about the bugs. Also, I checked with a friend, and he said that the force powers that I said had problems, (speed, defense) worked just fine with his game. So I guess I am going to go back to the store and see if perhaps I can get a fixed disc. I just hope that the "fixed" disc won't have more bugs than the one I have now. -
Was the Xbox version a Christmas rush job?

****ing Lucas Arts! First they **** up the prequels, now they **** up the sequel to the game that people say revived the spirit of Star Wars. Way to go, a$$shole$ I hope Obsidian says some **** about them, so that they are forced to release a new version, and then if LucasArts won't let them use Star Wars anymore, well **** 'em, Obsidian can just make their own ruleset/universe and LA can just lose money. Or Bioware could make KotOR 3 and it would be just as good. Dammit, I am so disappointed because the game had so much potential. I wish I could play it on PC. -
Was the Xbox version a Christmas rush job?
Darth Cake replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Looks like I will be returning KotOR II and preordering Jade Empire. But I am not trying to rag on Obsidian, I think KotOR II is one of the best games ever developed, but for me the bugs just sort of ruin it. Maybe I am obsessive-compulsive or something... -

I wish Obsidian would comment on this. They haven't really addressed much about the bugs, besides one reply by Feargus on the tech support board. -
Was the Xbox version a Christmas rush job?
Darth Cake replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I have put this idea forward on the Tech Support boards, but I thought I'd add it here as well, where I might actually get a reply. Is there a possibility that in the future, they will publish a different version, like a 1.1 with bug fixes and such? Because, honestly the content of the game is ****ing fantastic, and given the game's scope, I am not surprised that there are bugs in it. But I think that it was a rush job, and that just compounded the problem. I'm going to return it, because a buggy and unpatchable console game is inexcusable, but the thing is that I really want the game to work! So, I am just hoping that perhaps a newer version will be released with fixes. Am I merely dreaming or is it actually possible? -
Way to fix xbox bugs and glitches
Darth Cake replied to GeneralCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That would be so sweet if they would rerelease it - but I would def want a free copy. I'm guessing a few people here have played BGII - what we need is a new Kevin D to fix all the problems. We need a Sith Lords -Dash, you know? -
The way I feel about it is this: The bugs in the game are inexusable. There are probably two reasons for this. First is the rush to get it out for the holiday, which is actually a BAD idea, since the hype for this game is totally lost among Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Metroid Prime 2, and GTA:SA. Second, Obsidian is working with Bioware's engine, and they won't understand it is as well. I don't blame Obsidian, and I even want to support them because of their backgrounds with Fallout, PS:T, BG series, IWD series. So I really want Obsidian to do well but I am still going to return KotOR 2, because I need to use my free market voice to tell them that I won't accept a buggy-ass XBox game, even ithough it could have been fantastic. And if a new KotOR comes out with the same engine and a great story in a year and half or two, then I'll get it. But if it's buggy, I'll return that one too. I'm just hoping that they can release a fixed version, like a v1.1 for the XBox in a month or two and I can get that and play the **** out of it, hopefully with the store credit I get for returning this one.

Well I've beaten the game one time, and I was really looking forward to playing it through again, but I started reading about all the bugs (and had experienced a few myself) and I am thinking that I should return this game, on principle. It's not that I blame Obsidian or anything (I really blame Luca$Art$) but honestly - I think what drove me over the edge was learning that the force aura and speed trees gave no bonus to defense... that's just basic, isn't it? I mean, it doesn't even give you the bonus on the character screen, how could they have missed it? It even worked in the first game! Well I am hoping that if I return it and get store credit, and Obsidian/LucasArts has an attack of conscious and maybe starts selling a bug-fixed version in a month or so I can get that. Maybe?
