OpenGL Version=1.3.4204 WinXP Release
That is your problem. KotOR 2 requires OpenGL 1.4 to function properly. You need to update your drivers. Unfortunately ATI does not support laptops so I know of no way to update them.

Edit: Opps...sorry it requires version 1.4 not 1.5 to function properly.
From the readme:
To be able to play STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II, youmust have Windows 98SE, Millennium Edition (ME), 2000, or XP
installed and configured correctly, and your computer hardware
must be OpenGL 1.4 and DirectX 9.0c compatible.
Required: 32 MB OpenGL 1.4 compatible AGP or PCX 3D Graphics
card with Hardware Transform and Lighting (T&L) Capability
required.
From the Troubleshooting Guide:
OpenGL CompatibilityTo run Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II, your video card driver must have OpenGL 1.4 compatible drivers. OpenGL is a graphics API that was originally developed for professional workstations. It is now a standard API (Application Programming Interface) for 3D hardware acceleration, utilized in several current 3D games for the PC. Make sure you have the latest video drivers for your video card.

OK here's what i read at several sites .... a developer from Bioware talked too much. He said how proud Bio is about Jade Empire and he also said he is looking forward to the PC release in summer/autumn 05.
Don't know if there will be a PC port of the game or not but it would be nice!

It's funny when people just make things up. (w00t) Here is what Bioware said today on the subject:
Derek French, Technical Producer, Bioware Posted: Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:45PMWhen is the PC version coming out?
There are no plans for a PC version. Unlike Knights of the Old Republic which was designed from the ground up to be on both the PC and the Xbox, Jade Empire is being designed only for the Xbox and has no considerations for the PC. It will be an exclusive Xbox-only title.

all that happens for me is that this file sw_pc_english_from200424_to210427.zip is downloaded to a temp folder in the swkotor2 directory
The same thing happened to me. (I am on dial up by the way) After the autopatcher finishes downloading disconnect from the internet and it will patch normally. But what ever you do...do not cancel the patcher. (This is the process that I used.)
Also if you have the zip file already downloaded...place the file in your main sw directory (C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR) and run the auto patcher dissconected from the internet. Do not unzip it. (I have not tried this but this is the process for patching NWN if you download just the zip file and I assume it will work since it is based on the same technology.)

(snip)....this is what john morgon had to say
Obsidian Entertainment is indeed working on a third project. All I can really say is that it's in a state of pre-production at the moment and it is not a Bioware license.

i have a feeling that Kotor III might have nothing to do with the Revan or exile times line in a way.It better do!
Yes...but you are ignoring what he said later in that very thread:
Isn't Bethesda working on FO3? Or bought the rights or something?
In any case, my guess is KOTOR 3.
It's not a seque

There is your problem.
From the troubleshootiing guide:
You need to find updated drivers that will work for your computer. That is the only way to fix the lagging. Unfortunatly ATI is not known for there great Open GL compatibility especially with laptops.
