  1. I can't play any of the Dragon Age games on Nightmare (never really tried the first one, I don't think.) It just becomes "multiply all enemy damage/health by X," and it's ridiculous. Sure, if you do everything just right, it's not bad, but I hate a game that offers you a plethora of character customization, then says "only these few are effective enough to beat a challenge as tough as this difficulty level, though."

In DA 2, most enemies became immune to 50% of spell damage types from my Mage. So, basically half my spells did nothing to them. *shrug*.

Strangely, I completed all the Mass Effect games on Insanity, and only had trouble with a few encounters throughout.

They are not my favorite games when it comes to gameplay but it is a moderated challenge, and I do like to experiment with specializations like tempest dual dagger and so on but yes it is not the best system, and to tell you the true the only game that made me really like the gameplay side of RPGs was The Witcher 2 lol most of the time I play on easy or normal because I am more invested in the story.

... although I am still waiting for the day that females of one race are bigger than the male equivalent.

Wood Elves in the Elder Scrolls, by 10% in Morrowind and Oblivion (in Skyrim, only very slightly).

    ---

First playthrough will be with a male Paladin called Galahad. While it wouldn't be my first choice of character today (and certainly not the name), it's kind of a tradition - I did the first run of BG, BG2, IWD, IWD2, and NWN1 with him. So I have to stick to it. :D

When I mean bigger, I really mean it. The difference with bosmers is not that noticeable. I am talking about muscle and overall body structure and not really some inches taller.

    Using a female avatar obviously.

As for female players picking male characters there are three big things:

    - If there is romance the male on male is always nice for eye candy.

    - Because they can look hot in tight pants.

    - It is more easy to RP an evil character.

I find all races really well done overall when it comes to features and gender, although I am still waiting for the day that females of one race are bigger than the male equivalent.

I find that point about it being easier to RP an evil characer interesting because as a guy I find it easier to play more 'morally ambiguous' or aggressive character when they are female.  Wonder if it's universal for both genders to find it easier to play evil characters when not of their own gender or if it's just me being weird...

I think it depend on the person but I heard that enough around my group of IRL friends and online to consider one of the biggest points. I think it is more easy to distant yourself if you identify less with the character.

It does not work with me but there is plenty of people that do that.

Guys, where do we download the beta from, the Pledges page?

You'll find a key in your Products tab on your account page on the PoE site when they release it (2:00 PST). Insert key into Steam, download beta, enjoy.

2:00 AM or PM? 10:00 PM GMT+0 right?

  6. I actually have thee days off that happen to start today lol I live in Europe GMT+0 so I expect something at 1600 and beyond. I would be sad if they delay this but oh well. I kinda get the feeling that this is the case, I probably going to play some Shadowrun either way.

Well I have two questions not sure if they were address before. First let me say that I enjoy romances in games but it is not a feature that it breaks or make the game for me, it is nice to have and I love bioware games for it too.

My question is, this going to be like New Vegas, where you can flirt but it depends of the gender with some NPC? like having the cherchez la femme for example.

And if so is there flirt or romance between companions? because that would kinda cool.

Officially there is no romance in PoE. The developers have promised interesting and reactive NPCs with their own stories and motives, but none of them will have a romantic sequence with the PC.

Hum but I am not asking that, I am cool with no romance for the PC but companions A with companion E could be cool. Also have the possibility to flirt to get information or something else, just like on New Vegas with cherchez la femme.

My point is not, "is there sex or romantic scenes in a long run relationship" but the occasional flirt and joke. I mean I can be role playing a scoundrel type of person. So are people saying there in no dialogue that touches a more flirty character, not even at it's base level? Like one time with that npc that would not let u pass the castle doors?

  9. I came here to read some news about PoE and I happen to see the topic about this, since I read before that the armors were gonna to be more "realistic" and they even change their stance because the community like that more, you could say I was happy at the time. I though this topic as close to them. Well it turn out it that was not really true.

So I am not gonna to wast more time here really, I already said I did not like the armor in the News Section. If people want to find reasons to have that type of armor sure go head.

Wear armour while swimming, especially heavy suits of chain and plate, and ones character is bound to be immersed. Ha.

But in all seriousness I find Mr Fatback's point to be a valid one, it is usually the finer skeleton and long hair that identify a member of the female gender for oneself, and I have made the same mistake as that gentleman. Considering that the model we saw of the scale byrnie clad young lady is similarly of female proportions I personally see no need for the emphasised bust. I would ideally like it to be scaled downa little but it is not a matter of utmost import, simply a little grumble with the game, like my reservations with the Rogue's nomenclature or the stash.

One will always have a few differences between the designers vision and the audiences expectations, however I do not think this one is too egregious.

Edit: What does gender fluid mean, have functioning artificial wombs and testes been created and I didn't hear of it?

Good luck with you life. The stupidity is to damn high here.
