Hello this is my first post so here goes. I was intrigued by the ideas on souls in update 5, which reminded me of a couple of ideas I've found on the the web and as they sound quite familiar, they are probably aware of them so just want to share them and maybe you can share yours. One being the five soul steps in Spiritual growth these are: Infant souls- early soul that is primitive, tribal and still has a attachment to the infinite. Baby souls- Are the social conformists that are most likely to follow the idea of right and wrong. Young souls- Are the early individualists who peruse self interest first and usually the businessmen of the community. Mature souls- Are more intrigued in the nuance of society and see different perspectives and ideas. Old souls- Big picture thinkers who have less interest in the material world and more interest in the spiritual whole. There are also considered higher souls which are called transcendent and infinite souls which usually come to life for a purpose think Gandhi and Jesus. These soul ideas could be adapted in some way to the game from simple stat changes, quest choices or magic and character advantages, for example infants souls could have a closer relationship to nature in the real or magical sense but suffer lower intelligence as well as prejudice from there assumed primitive lack of restraint. Another idea using the same concept is creating a new form of alignment no more good – evil, law – chaos, but characters who have characters connected to there souls, are you social conformist who follow the rules and prejudices of community without question then you are a baby soul. Another belief that the games soul idea brings to mind is the Gnostic Demiurge, considered by some to a godlike idiot unaware of the true god but is in fact a secondary god that creates anything in the material world aka souls do not connect with the infinite but are entwined or imprisoned in the material world.
