  1. Any good RPG must have dragonborn. Frankly, I'd be okay with only humans. Other than this, I only care if the race makes a significant difference to the story. Just as a stats differentiator, meh.
  2. I liked the way it was done in Torment, and I agree with FreezingShock, the best romances are those which aren't explicit. I'd rather have romances build up, as additional tension building to a climax at the end, rather than have a romance consumated mid game and then deal with with how to keep the relationship, which would IMO be more annoying to play.
  3. The mobile UI paradigm is not completely different. Point and click works well for mobile, with well defined UI for things like zoom and drag. Some things are missing, such as right click, or the ability to use the keyboard dynamically. You can still use a keyboard easily for entering a character name or the like, and there's no need to program that (which I think you need on the consoles), but it obscures the screen, so is a problem when gaming. Still, 3rd person RPG game interfaces tend to be designed to be mouse friendly, with keyboard shortcuts being just that -- shortcuts. Since touch is more natural than mouse, I feel that this shortcuts could be less needed anyway.
  4. Thanks. A reference would be nice, but I'd trust that's been said. Still, I would prefer seeing the UI first. If BG can work on mobile, then I imagine that other RPG's of that style wouldn't have a huge problem, and Project Eternity is of this style. By the way bundling consoles and mobile together is pretty bad for such a discussion, since they have such different controls.
  5. You mean in terms of processing power? I think that by 2014 when the game is expected to be released we'll have pretty powerful tablets. Even now $200 gets you a Google Nexus with four A9 cores and decent graphics. By 2014 Cortex A15 will likely be common, at least at the high end, and mobile GPU's will be quite powerful, but I'm sure even the low end will have pretty decent hardware. (That was a reply to Krezack.)
  6. (I haven't yet found the search option for this forum, so I don't know if this has been posted before.) I think that the mobile platforms are becoming a popular choice for gaming, and will become even more so by the time the game arrives. I don't have a tablet yet, but I want one and I certainly see myself playing most games on it. In fact when Kickstarters offer options of what to choose, I choose Android, because I assume that by the time the games are around that's what I'll be using. (I already have an Android phone, which is why I feel that way, however its screen is too small for serious gaming.) I'd love it if this game also offered mobile versions. Could be a high stretch goal, could be after release, but it's a definite draw for me. I'm also likely to pledge higher if that gets me the version. I'm just a small fry backer, but for example in Broken Sword the announcement that Android will be available as part of the $25 reward made me pledge for that. I think that the same would happen here if this was added to the $35 level.
  7. Sure, I'd love variety. D to G cup is pretty good variety. Just kidding. Anyway, are you talking PC or NPC? Not that I think there's need to worry either way. I don't remember an RPG where all women were hot.
  8. I didn't play a wizard in Torment. I simply got a more mediocre (or well rounded, depending on how you look at it) character becasue I couldn't empahsise certain stats. Anyway, first of all I'm generally for dialogue options based on in-game actions, stats and skills. That said, I don't want that to mean that certain stat combinations have more options than others because then they'd be the attractive ones. Insteam have different combinations have different options, each of them leading in a slightly different direction, so playing with a different build will mean a different experience, adding to replay value. For example, don't make characters like or dislike you based on a charisma score. Perhaps one person likes you for being a smooth talker, while another is attracted to muscles and has an aversion from prissy smooth talkers. By the way, I think that the problem with D&D is that it's so strictly segregated into classes and supporting attributes for them. A fighter could certainly be a better fighter due to having high intelligence or wisdom (experience).
  9. Sorry. I'm new here. I guess he's on everyone's ignore list.
  10. I think you lost the context completely. Double Fine started the Kickstarter exactly on the premise of creating a game that only "breaded nerds" as you say would want. There's no need for a Kickstarter to make an up to date game that everyone agrees has a big market. What it's needed for it to make a game that doesn't fit the current market but for which there are a lot of fans. An overhead turn based RPG is exactly like a 2D point and click adventure, a powerful nostalgia trip for older gamers who don't want all that newfangled first person 3D stuff.
  11. First of all, I have to say that one reason, perhaps the main one, that I paid for the Double Fine Kickstarter was the promise of a documentary coupled with the introductory video (which showed that such a documentary could be very enjoyable to watch). I unfortunately don't spend much time on gaming these days, so it's a little hard to justify spending money on them (which I still do all the time). That said, Planescape: Torment is at the top of my favourite games list. Only thing I didn't like about it was the combat. So I may be willing to put some money towards an RPG that promises to provide a similar level of story. Provide a way to go through the game without combat and it might be another incentive to pay.
