  1. Let me wish the Syrians good luck when they finally get re-homed in England. It'll be better life than living in the blitz torn ruins back home, obviously, but I doubt they'll find any long term happiness. Even with benefits it won't be a comfortable life. We're talking generations of catchup. The lowest worst paid jobs, with no hope of moving up the social ladder.

  2. I don't know how it's going to work technically, but without banning the use of proxies as well I don't see how it would be practical.

Also, I'm pretty sure you are not allowed to post links to TPB here, and since I'm now a mod I suppose I will have to ask you to edit them out.

What's this? My post on censorship is being censored?

Irony aside, you'll have to edit it yourself as I can't after x minutes have elapsed.

  3. Who really cares? Politicians don't understand how the internet works. Remember when they tried to block piratebay? Here was the response:

[A metric ton of alternate links to Piratebay]

And that was just one website. Good luck blocking all the porn sites lol. Silly politicians. The tighter they hold their grip the more porn sites slip through their fingers.

  4. I've had stop and search done on me four times. I'm always very polite and have a chat with them. I like to think I help counterbalance you mentalists being instantly lairy.

Of course complaints go somewhere. If they didn't then we'd have the same police services we had in the 1950s and if you think things haven't improved then I'm sorry but you're just a c***.

Do you think people respect police less these days?

  5. "The Brotherhood". Might as well call themselves  "hubologists" or "stonecutters".

Egypt's unrest won't end until those at the top grow up like the rest of the world and realise in a modern times you have to present the illusion of democracy and freedom to your subjects. The game requires so much more finesse these days.

  6. I get the feeling a lot of people see the issue of global warming as if a crazy old man had come knocking at their door saying there'd be a bomb going off on their road in 3 days. As it happens they had planned to possibly visit their friend that day anyway, but now they're determined to stay home because of the inconvenience, and that man was clearly a loon.

  7. I would imagine if it wasn't a hoax there's probably a law against it anyway. I believe shops in the UK are legally entitled to reject small coin denominations for payment over a certain amount on their discretion. Likewise despite the myth, postal stamps are not legal tender that bus drivers have to accept : p

  8. You might find your CPU is still a bit of a bottleneck. A year or so ago I was playing Divinity 2 using I think an HD 4890, which is sufficient to meet the graphical needs of that game but regardless my CPU was still throttling over 75% most of the time causing a significant frame rate drop. I ended upgrading to an i5, usage went down to 20%~ and the problem was resolved.

  9. I heard one guy at college got over his fear by capturing a spider in a glass jar, then rolling the glass jar back and forth over himself till he got comfortable with the spiders presence.

Thought I'd add this pic too, not all spiders are bad : p

  10. I'm not really convinced it's to do with bullying, or depression. Thousands of people get bullied, even more suffer from severe depression - they never do anything like this. Something was different about this person, and it makes sense to research into what.

  11. Honestly I think you give this guy too much credit. Regardless, research into diagnosing mental health issues early is likely to be more beneficial to society.

I reckon once again people will overlook this. As usual the topics you see are all titled "gun control" rather than "mental health".

  12. I think the fact a 20 year old man with obvious mental health problems that were never picked up on and treated as he went through life is the real problem here. Growing up he would have gone through an entire public school system - don't tell me nobody noticed he had problems in that entire time.

I do however believe if guns were more difficult to get hold of it may have delayed him enough to prevent this. A lot of the times with mental health conditions there is a swing back and forth between stable and volatile, and it may have given him enough time to "get a grip". We'll never know.
