  1. It would be both amazing and terrifying if spiders and maybe other specific bugs didn't just immediately go into full combat with the player when they see you depending on line of sight. For example, you are walking around and the spider is behind you and you haven't seen it yet, so instead of going into loud full combat mode, it instead stalks you more quietly and tries to close distance before attacking. Then the trigger for combat would be either you turn and see it before it gets to you or it gets within a certain range. I got this idea from the start of the game when you look at the posters of dead scientists having a spider in the background. As an expansion to this idea, each type of spider might have a unique opening attack they perform if they do successfully stalk the player instead of getting seen. Like the orb weaver might web you or the wolf spider might do a pounce that knocks you down or back. Another idea would be that those enemies that have the stalk ability might move more carefully and stealthily during the night or maybe in certain environments. (e.g. quieter movement, less vocal sounds, less collision with grass so it moves less) I don't think every hostile bug should have a stalking behavior, just ones where it makes sense.
