In my opinion, I think that the jumping spider should be more of a neutral critter that you can make a pet out of. I know that sounds weird, but I have seen people keep jumping spiders as pets and said spiders showing a preference to stay with their owner. I just think it's cute, and I personally think that it would be awesome to have a little spider pet that could hunt for you. And if you may think that there would be a big size difference, adult jumping spiders (generally) range from 4-16 mm long, or around .4-1.6 cm long. Which is interesting considering that a Black Vine Weevil (the kind that weevils in Grounded are based off of) are only about 9-14 mm long. (.9-1.4 cm) That's not really big enough to eat a player in the game.
