It would be great to get some "official" reply on this. With the amount of Threads about this problem regularly popping up here, it should be clear that this is affecting quite a lot of players...and for most its game-breaking as no further prgression is possible.

You just need to wait for the toenails to respawn. I think its 6 or 7 ingame days.

I tried to spawn Burgl with console commands now, which seems only possible in Singleplayer and needs 3rd party software. Sadly after spawning (a new?) Burgl, the game just ends itself when I try to give him the next Chip(its not even a SuperChip). Dialouge options were also a bit weird, so I guess that route does not work at all. So...back to waiting for a fix or workaround from Obsidian.

I totally agree! I don't want to restart after so many hours and also there is the chance it just happens again I think. Even if it cannot be fixed easyly, resetting his position as a workaround shouldn't be too hard to implement, right?

Same here. We just came back from the Termite King and now cannot turn in the Chip it was guarding :/
