What happens when a romantic loses that which sustains his optimism? It's a long distance to fall, and some wounds never truly heal.

I have no hope, not for myself, nor humanity in general. I wasn't always that way, I can remember when the whole world was within my reach, and there seemed to be nothing that I couldn't achieve. But dreams are fragile, and reality is hard. I wasn't quite strong enough. But I shouldn't complain. There are many who are far worse off than me. And we are all going to die anyway.

That, in nutshell, is the story of my life. Don't ask for details. I won't tell you, and I wouldn't have the words even if I wanted to.
