  1. Just posting this update in case it helps anyone else with a similar problem. I installed XP Service Pack 3 today, and the game is now running as well as it ever did. I hope this can help somebody else out there.
  2. I've had KotOR 2 installed on my computer since shortly after it came out. In all that time I've never had any trouble running it. After not playing it for several months, I recently decided to open it up and start a new game. When I tried, though, all I got was an error message saying that Windows had encountered a problem and was forced to close the program. I've tried running it without sound, without movies, and without both, but it won't run. The only way I've gotten it to work is to completely uninstall and reinstall it, but even then once I exited out and reinstalled the 1.0b update patch, it again wouldn't start. I'm getting really frustrated at this point, and am hoping that someone knows how to get it working again. Here's my system information: Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: D815E2 System Model: EA81520A BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® III CPU 1200MHz Memory: 254MB RAM Page File: 368MB used, 256MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Display Driver: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 Chip type: GeForce4 MX 420 I'm aware that my system isn't optimal for running the game, but I've never had any trouble getting it to work before now (and KotOR 1 still runs perfectly with these hardware limitations, I've checked it since 2 stopped working and there are no problems). There has been no significant change to any of my PC's components since the last time I successfully ran the game. I've tried contacting Lucasart's tech support, but all I've gotten back is an entirely unhelpful "Your computer can't run this game" message, which first-hand experience tells me is entirely untrue. So please, if anyone has any idea how to get this game up and running again, help me out.
