Has title says . I get food and drink from the people and explooration but i cannot put in ship's cargo how do i do that. All food and drink found or bought is put in my party stash.

I have food in my party stash, How do i get that food to the ship, how do i transfer items from party stash to the ship? Or do i have to carry them around all the time. So for example i have tons of food in my PS but cannot transfer it to starving ship crew mates, if that is the case then the game mechanics are stupid on this point.
