  1. With Patch 4.0 and the third DLC out on December 13th, Deadfire will be in a very good state IMO. Pretty good balance, a multitude of ways to customise your experience (difficulty, bonuses, builds, etc.), so far excellent DLC...

It's finally getting to what I was hoping for when I backed it. It still has systemic issues, but there is enough good and very good to make it a memorable game, which I hope to play for another 300 hours +

    Just don't tell my wife.

BTW, what's your wife's email address?

Baldur's Gate had companions like and hate each other (even to the point of eventually fighting) without a complex relationship system.

You mean the first Baldur's Gate? Yes, and it sucked ass. Basically everyone in that game was like a Deadfire sidekick, even characters important to the story. Why would you want something so bland.

    I was mainly meaning Baldur's Gate 2. I can't remember BG1 enough.  :|

It's very unlikely that we'll tie her (or any of the other sidekicks) into the companion relationship system. Though I'd like to in an ideal world, it's a ton of work that involves not just additional writing (and loc, and VO, and QA), but also adding scripting throughout the game (and related systems, and QA, and UI art, and UI implementation).

If that's the case, I'd really like to see the removal of the relationship system in future games - it sounds like an awful lot of work for relatively little gain from a player perspective, and if it precludes the upgrading of sidekicks to full companions then that's a strong net loss imo. New sidekick content is nice, but I'm really hoping for at least another proper companion out of the season pass given that PoE1's DLCs gave us 3.

I agree. I don't need a relationship system to know whether companions like or hate each other. Their responses in conversations and the bantering with one another are enough for me to tell. Baldur's Gate had companions like and hate each other (even to the point of eventually fighting) without a complex relationship system.

When I first heard about the relationship system during the Fig campaign I was excited because I thought companions would be better and feel more important in the story. After playing Deadfire though, I don't feel like the companions are deeper or more fleshed out vs the first game.

There was a post around steam concerning spoofing your cores to improve performance. The writer contacted Obsidian recently and their head programmer, as far as the word goes, was informed. Maybe they're trying to improve the performance in the long run and have touched something that has completely destroyed your fps. It's just a wild guess.

Anyways, have you tried spoofing your cores down?

If you mean turn all setting down, yes

    No, he/she means this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/560130/discussions/0/2572002906843374108/

Bananamancy: Creation and manipulation of bananas and banana-like materials for offensive and defensive purposes.

Overpowered! It would have spells from all schools:

    Banana Peel (slicken)

    Necrotic Banana

    Banana Image

    Bounding Bananas

    Banana Skin

    Banana Shower

Might be a fun and silly mod to make all spells about bananas.

    More fun spells:

    Kalakoth's Minor Bananas

    Concelhaut's Parasitic Banana

    Ghost Bananas

Curse of Blackened Banana (My personal favorite because this happens in real life)

    Form of the Helpless Banana

    Banana of Many Colors

  6. I'm not sure subclasses would do anything unless the existing ones got benefits at certain levels and that goes against the design that the team clearly wanted of a subclass changing your gameplay from the moment you pick it.

Single class characters get two advantages.

1.)  They get higher level powers earlier (which is nice).

2.)  They get exclusive access to 7-9 tier powers (which is variable depending on your class).

The real issue to me is so many classes just have weak 7-9 tier powers that don't in anyway make up for the added versatility and power you can get from a multiclass.

Now Wizard gets some great powers but what about Paladin for example?  Sacred Immolation isn't exactly making a case for itself.  Or Cipher?  Haunting Chains a level 9 power delivers 2 debuffs that for 9x the Focus doesn't beat out Whispers of Treason a level 1 power.

The only thing single classes really need is for the late tier powers to get some work done on them.

I agree with what you said except that single class gets exclusive access to 7 - 9 tier powers. Multiclass can reach tier 7 so single class only gets exclusive access to tiers 8 and 9.

  7. There are gloves that give you +2 mechanics: Burglar's Gloves

They are in the chest you described...

Haha! Nah, kidding - you can buy them from Iolfr in Neketaka.

  8. Modwyr becomes Unique after you finish its quick and easy quest. Lord Darryn's Voulge used to be great but got nerfed (thnx OBS). There is no exaggeration in saying that every one of these weapons is worse than at least one of their Unique counterpart. Just look at the facts. Blightheart straight loses to both Dragon's Dowry and The Red Hand, Magistrate's Cudgel effects are useless, and Marux Amanth is a clear downgrade from Pukestabber because its effects have very low proc rate (becuz baluns).

Modwyr becomes unique if you remove her soul. If you don't, then it stays soulbound.

Also, soulbounds are not trash just because there is a better alternative. Something can still be good even though there is a better alternative. Trash means that they are terrible.
