  1. I'm new to this forum so hello to everyone.

I really liked the two KOTOR games, but I thought there should be a couple of things that need to be taken care of.

1st of , a lot of people said that K1 was better than K2. I would say that the mechanics of K2 (UI, prestige classes, areas, influence on team members (albeit half baked)) were better, whereas K1 has a complete (short of) story.

Both games were short. Adding a couple of extra planets (at least)  was needed in BOTH games. To put it differently at least 15 hours+ of gameplay. It is an RPG game after all.

Reusing old material, and some NPCs wouldn't be a problem, but the devopers should remeber that it is customers who buy the game not marketing directors. An unhappy marketing director is just that, an inconsequential thing. Unhappy customers are a totaly different thing. Interplay can attest to this argument. In fact

publishers and marketing directors should only contribute money. If they take over management, things are going to go very bad. Everyone is on a budget, but if the outcome is a crap game, then you will fail while being on budget. So DONT CUT LEVELS AND THE STORYLINE to make some deadline. If the game comes on March instead of Christmas we will STILL BUY IT. WE DO NOT BUY GAMES only on before

New Year's Day and before Eastern. Honeslly we do buy games in between holidays.

I am not sure when DnD 4th will be realeased, but if it does come soon, it would be interesting to include it in the game. As long as itsn't total crap like adnd. I am talking about systems here, not settings.

K2 concluded by saying that revan went on to discover the true sith. This is an interesting idea. Instead of making yet again a new character who happens to hear of revan at some point, it would be interesting, to have the previous character from K2,

going after revan, to learn of the coming war (with the true sith), and even join with him. Or vice versa revan from K1 finding the character of K2 alogn the way. And then the game elaborates on the nature of true Sith, their plans, their motivation, and at some point the player chooses whether he will fight to ascend the order of the true Sith to destroy them , or to use them. Given that the player would start of from a point in the story where his background is known, he could choose to take a couple of his companions along with him. E.g as revan he could choose from the K1 party. And on the way to find the true Sith they could complete the party.

There could be something like 5 or 6 planets to explore and ascend the hierarchy of the true Sith, 3 or 4 replublic planets where the pleyer collects info on the true sith and prepares,  and another 5-7 intermediate planets to build up on the story, and to provide the player with backgorund on some NPCs that he will meet in the true SIth space, along with advancing the character and building up on the party.

Something similar to moving through planes and collecting info from DnD 3.5.

K2 forced the players toy use all the characters. This was good and it should be kept.  But not expanded upon.

Also the idea of building your own items was good, and since Kx use the Modern D20 system, they could allow the player to fabricate any combination of things to create artefacts as long as they could make the DC check. In other words, instead of listing 4 or 5 items of each lightsaber component, say that an emiiter can be fabricated from these 10 materials, but the DC check for each of them is different. Even better it can be fabricated from the combination of X metal with Y non-metal in Z machine. The difference is that there is a greater variety of items, and a player cna choose to focus on attack / damage / special (slow, stun) in any way the like. They could make an emitter that does (stun/slow) with a crytal that increase the attack and onather one that increases damage. At any rate I am taking about an implementation of the craft skills from d20 3.5.

That's all for now, I apologise for the lengthy post,

    everybody take care.

    That is an old rumor

I have found a link to a star wars game in development. It shows exciting footage of Jedi using cool force powers on storm troopers. But any way I heard that this exciting trailer can eventually lead to a hopeful Kotor 3.

    look below:

    http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11412/Star-W...ech-Demo-Movie/

It looks unbelievably cool because it is pre-rendered. It is NOT done in real time using a game engine. I think the vid is more a guide for what can and should be done in games as far as look and gameplay are concerned.

thats really cool cant wait to play that game.

  2. Well, quick explanation: There is block, attack, and power attack.

Block: Stops attack, is broken by power attack

Attack: Well, it is basic attack. Stops power attack, is stopped by block

Power attack: breaks block, is stopped by attack.

This is (over)simplistic version of fighting game like Dead or alive or Tekken. It fits for JE nicely, since it is asian world and fights are mostly martial arts. For that kind of game (and to its world) this is perfect. Oh, it is little bit spiced up by all kinds of different fighting styles.

However, we all know how Kotor series have been. And such simple system would really ruin fights. No flurry, fighting feats etc.

Heck, in JE there even isn't D20 system. And Kotors are D&D games... <_<

I've never played jade empire but i have seen its fighting engine and it would not work for this game

  3. I would like to see the planet of ossus it sounds like a cool planet

I'd agree, by the time the KOTOR games are set in Ossus is pretty much a graveyard after it was pummeled by Exar Kun. But there would be the ruins of the old academy and ancient jedi library there. It is basically like the Lightsided Korriban. I think it would be a good planet to visit.

As for the concept of bigger planets, I personally get incredibly sick of a planet after too much time on it. I personally feel that Korriban was a suitable length for the context of the planet, it served its purpose and if it was any longer I feel it would have been pushing it. Storyline wise told us what happened to Lonna Vash, have us encounter Sion once more and have him put doubt in our character's mind about Kreia, which would similarly be reinforced by the vision of her in the cave.

Nar Shadaa was borderline to the point of getting tedious, Dantooine was fine in my opinion, it could have been a bit longer. Onderon/Dxun were perfect in length for me.

Maybe you could find some helpful info there about the sith

  4. 250px-Gotofull.jpg

    Tankdroid.jpg

Also, continuing where I left off earlier, am not exactly sure about why such a character like G0T0 was doing back in a period of TSL. G0T0 and Sentry Droid Mark l models are almost like look-alikes, with differences being only with names. And the concept of using holo-projected images from a droid model was hard to believe.

Would have also liked to see more of walker droids in K2, apart from tank droid in military base. Tank droid was hardly a challenge in terms of attacks. If I can remember, it had a flame attack, and an occasional laser rate of fire. And that was all.

I rarely (almost never) used GOTO...another annoying little b***ard. I have more fun playing T3.

    K1 there was nothing bad

    K2 the ending was terrible

and i hate the big droid thing

  5. Ziost - Many forgotten Sith secrets remain here.

Dathomir - Chu'unthor crash-landed here. Chu'unthor may contain some valuable Jedi teachings or perhaps some interesting artifacts.

Tython - Inception of the first Jedi Order.

Ossus - Home of the Great Jedi Library.

Thosa - Birthplace of Jedi Master Odan-Urr.

Corellia - Corellians assisted in the construction of the Star Forge. Perhaps the Corellians have backround knowledge of the Celestials and their technologies.

I'll just reiterate my original response.

    crafty corellians

  6. hey,

long time reader first time poster

just wanted to make a point on the gameplay of future kotor game(s). One of the things that annoyed me most about kotor 1&2 is that LS or DS it didn't change what acess to force powers you had.

Yes DS powers cost more if your LS but by the time you got up a few levels and got some stat enhancements you had more than enough force points to cover the costs.

So LS DS you allways got force storm because it deals alot more death than battle meditation, In the films how often did you see yoda or obi use force lightning? never because it is a inherant Ds ability.

I just think in the new game chosing light or Dark should have far more implications on how you play the game then just weather you do evil things or not.

How many people would play a lightside Pc if all The cool Ds powers were unnavailable to you like they should Be?, This is the true essance of the battle between being good or evil how much are you willing to sacrifice to gain Power?

They could also create alot more cooler lightside powers to counteract the darkside powers for example a lightside Pc could gain the abillity to absorb force lighting through your lightsaber or hands like yoda and windu in EP3

It would also mean a lightsider would put more emphases on his/her skill

with a lightsaber than a sith would (yoda is a far better swordsman than palpatine) this could be reflected by what options are available when you level up

I just think something like this would add alot more to the gameplay then being able to a stick your hood up or down, or having a yellow pokeadot lightsaber or whatever colour is in fashion

Beside what i think is more important to the game is what luke ask yoda

" Is the darkside stronger? "

Finding that out in a game would be alot of fun.

                      Cheers

    (insert appropiate slurs Here)

klye katarn Uses foce lighting and choke for good

That a good idea to have coutner to force lighting like force block

and shoots it back at them

  7. If you have too many people it will be hard to choose who you want to take out onto a planet. (I had trouble just deciding with nine people)

KOTOR II had cool robes, but I like many people, believe that you should be able to raise your hood. That'd be awesome!

I don't know whether or not that you should start out as a new character, I do in a way want to be someone new, but I also want to start the Exile's quest to find Revan. Maybe you could be the Exile and start out meeting up with Carth and Bastila and travel to the Unknown Regions. (Carth may or may not be able to go because he may have busy Admiral duties.)

When/if there is a point in the game where the Exile and Revan rendezvous, they should plan on how to erradicate the Sith Empire. It could either just be the Exile and Revan alone (with your party members of course) or with the Republic miliatary. But there should be a point where you and Revan fight the Sith Empire and something vital to your characters happen.

This is just some of the stuff I want to see in KOTOR III. :D

You need to have a new character because then it would be boring...
