  1. Update for those of you interested in additional information about Deadfire's sale performance.  This was released in early May (sorry for the delay):

    https://medium.com/playfig/fig-announces-positive-investor-returns-for-the-second-straight-year-81293466a9c1

From 8 May 2018 to 31 December 2018, Deadfire has recouped 32% of its investment.  They mention that the release of the turn-based-system provided a nice spike in sales, but those numbers aren't included in the 32%.  Also, console versions (PS, Xbox, and Switch) still haven't been released, so there's that to look forward to.  In the end, I'm confident we investors have nothing to worry about.

  2. The first round of dividends were just paid out.  Here are the results:

    Dear Investors,

We are excited to announce that the first round of dividends for holders of Fig Game Shares - Pillars of Eternity II will be paid out this month! This covers revenue received through calendar Q3 2018. The next set of dividends are scheduled to be issued in May of 2019.

November 2018 dividends per share: $192.67
(this amount is gross of any tax withholding)

That's a 38.434% return on a bi-annual compound.  That's not too shabby, if you ask me.  Will have a better idea in six months.  I'll keep you all posted.

  3. Hey Everybody,

To those of you who are curious about us investors, I just received an email from FIG.  We'll finally be getting some numbers in soon:

    Dear Shareholder,

This notification is being sent to you for two reasons:

The first reason is to inform you that Fig Publishing Inc. (FIG) will be paying a dividend to shareholders of Fig Game Shares - Pillars of Eternity II in November 2018. You should receive a notification from Fig in the coming weeks regarding the expected size of the dividend payment.

The second reason is to let you know that your dividend payment will be mailed to you in the form of a check to the address registered to your account.

<additional banking stuff in the email, but this is the important bit>

I'll keep you all reprised of the details as I get them.

  4. Not just that, but Mac and PC load/sync their files from different folders.  Mac saves/syncs from the subfolder "Saved Games" within the "Pillars of Eternity II" saved games directory, while Windows loads/syncs from the "Pillars of Eternity II" folder directly.

Meaning if you switch between Mac & PC, it requires a lot of manual copy/pasting to keep them in sync, and enabling CloudSync just mucks it up super bad.  Or in my case, I have a daemon the runs rsync on the save folder stored in my DropBox to mirror the Mac and PC saves when I shut down my computer ... but this required way too much work on my part for an issue easily resolved by patching the Mac version to sync/use the saves in ~/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity II/ as opposed to ~/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity II/Saved Games/.

  5. Game freezes or crashes shortly after Rymrgand smashes the ground with his axe upon refusing to serve him.  I don't know what happens after that because after the camera follows the purple fracturing effect, the screen either freezes or the game crashes.  I've attached the crash log.  The screen freeze is similar to that of the Fort Deadlight bug.

  6.

Computershare (holding company used for investment shares in PoE2) / Fig / Obsidian haven't yet released any sales data to investors.  Just have to wait and see.  :)  Might not start seeing anything until the development cycle has completely finished and the game has been released on the consoles so that they have all revenue sources collated and accounted for.

And to expand on that a little, investors aren't sitting on some secret stash of information.  When dividends start being distributed (which hasn't happened yet, nor was it expected so soon), it might be possible to draw some logical inferences about sales, but that's about it.  There was no promised access to raw data.

In the year since the fundraising campaign, there have been approximately three investor-only emails amounting to:

    1. Thanks for your investment

    2. Deadfire release?  Much hype!

    3. Don't forget to set up a Computershare account

If anything, wait a few months and check out the filings for other Fig investments.  As a high-profile release for Fig, Deadfire sales will probably be referenced in other campaigns.

I had asked Fig shortly before the campaign ended if there would be a way for investors to track sales.  This was their response:

    Hi [name],

Thanks for reaching out! We will be reporting returns numbers for holders of Fig Game Shares - Pillars of Eternity II on a regular basis which will be included in our SEC filings and annual reports. The disclosure of any granular sales data will most likely be left up to Obsidian.
    Cheers,
    Fig

  8. Giant air quotes there.  New bug introduced into 1.1.0.0034 beta release.  Game doesn't prevent you from going all the way to 100 when crafting something, even if you don't have the resources to do so.  It even gives you a message that you've successfully crafted them, however, the game doesn't actually add the items to your inventory nor use any resources.  So it's not game breaking, just a minor annoyance.

  9. Just a workaround:  Avoid it.  :p  If you happened to exit the Forge door and immediately go into the screen freeze, you can still control your party.  Try and click on the door to head back into the Forge.  The screen will stay frozen, but if you quick-save after the transition and then reload the game, it'll start working again.  You'll just have to go the long way 'round via the bar or dungeon to get to the front of the keep.

  10. Hiho,

As the title says.  There's a specific spot, just in front of the door to the forge, that if my camera happens to pan over it, causes the screen to freeze.  You still have audio, and you can hear interactions with the game (UI, characters moving, etc.), but can't see any of it because of the frozen screen.  I've tried panning over the area with all graphics options disabled, but it still freezes.

It has even caused my PC to BSOD with a "video_scheduler_internal_error".

    [edit]

Original video was corrupted during the recording of the bug and Google didn't know how to handle it.  Fixed the video and re-uploaded.

  11. That's great there's a way to get into the beta branch for those who purchased on Steam or GOG, but what about if you got it from the Apple App store? Is there a way to access the Beta branch from there?

I'd love any direction to be able to start playing this game that I've been looking forward to for so long. Even just to play around with character creation while they actually fully fix the problem'd be great!

If you send me a message with what specs you'd like for your main character, I can create it for you and then email you the saved game file.

  12. On the Mac side, it appears to have its own sync data in addition to the Windows sync data.  It puts the Windows saves in "~/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity II" folder and the Mac saves in the "~/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity II/Saved Games".  However, the game it self (both Mac & Win) load the saved games from the Saved Games folder.  This causes the two platforms to be perpetually out of sync, unless you manually copy over your current saves from "~/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity II" into the Saved Games folder.

Seems to have been fixed.  Thank you.

    [edit]

Correction, it hasn't been fixed.  See video below.

  13. I only just heard about this change because apparently I'd been missing my updates! But I just want to say YES! YES to this system. This is perfect and I kind of feel like coming to after so much hard work really kind of vindicates my long-held and probably misguided belief that AD&D2E's multiclassing system (which was basically similar to this, only with more limits and eccentricities but also triple-classing) was the greatest multiclassing system of all time (GMCSOAT).

So long as it isn't AD&D dual classing.  Then your level 12 chanter would have to advance 13 levels in priest before being allowed to use any chanter abilities.  :(
