  1. shutdown tonight after about 3 hours playing, so there is still some issue. over the past week i played a few times for short periods (<2hr) and it worked. in spite of this problem, i had great fun while playing.
  2. This apparently solved the problem for the most part for him, so it might assist you guys if you haven't tried all of the suggested solutions yet. In the meantime, I'm submitting another report to the team about the issues you all are still having. Capping the framerate and making sure your computer isn't dusty was the main solution for a lot of people, but seeing that the issue is still persistent after that for you guys means that we'll be taking another look. After windows update and reinstallation of audio drivers, the game is running right now and has been for about 20 minutes. Temp before opening game was 45C, right now it's about 70C, though while playing the game it shot up to 91C at one point. Not sure if the solution is permanent but will update. edit: Played the game for about 2 hours, no shutdown. But the Afterburner monitor showed GPU going crazy, and temps were regularly in the 80s, with the fan going wild. There is something in the game that causes this to happen, no other program has the same effect, so I hope the developers continue to look into it. Unless I post again, things are fine on my end.
  3. looks like the save game file is just too big to post on the forum.
  4. Here is another file requested of others with the same problem: Tried to upload the Save Game info but it appears to be too big. Will post this file and then try to follow up. output_log.txt
  5. Here is the DxDiag file as requested in how to post a problem. DxDiag.txt
  6. Rivatuner is very old and very likely wouldn't function properly with your graphics card - remove it. MSI Afterburner is based on Rivatuner and if you have that installed, you should be able to monitor your GPU temperature (it won't automatically fix things, it's mainly a monitoring/reporting tool, though you can use it to control GPU fans and ensure they speed up when temperature reaches set levels). Check that temperatures do not go (much) above 80°C and use CoreTemp (links given previously) to check CPU temperature also. If either CPU or GPU temperatures are too high, then you need to check your system's cooling. Heatsinks might just need a clean out to remove dust (in which case, also check that your case has filters on its intake fans to prevent dust buildup in future) or may have come loose and need refixing. Or case airflow itself may be the problem, requiring more fans (or resiting existing ones). A quick and simple test for this is to remove the side of your computer case and point a desktop fan at the motherboard. If the crashes stop, then overheating is almost certainly the cause. Well I thought I fixed it, because I got the program to run for about 10 minutes. But in the end it shut the computer down again. This is really frustrating and disappointing. Here is a list of remedies I have applied 1. downloaded and installed MSI Afterburner. In Settings, under Monitoring I clicked on Framerate and Frametime, and set Maximum limit to 50. Under Video Capture I set Framerate limit to 60 FPS 2. downloaded and installed Rivatuner statistics server. Set framerate limit to 40 3. Purchased and applied a compressed air duster to my computer vents. 4. Changed system settings (Control Panel>System and Security>System>Advanced system settings>Startup and Recovery) by unclicking automatic restart on failure. As a result of these efforts, instead of failing immediately upon my moving the party (they're in Raedric's (sp?) Hold right before the fight with the main guy) it allowed me to get through the fight before shutting down. Unfortunately, I didn't see if the temperature spiked right before shutdown because I thought the problem was solved. To repeat, this is an extremely disappointing turn of events and has left a sour taste in what was an otherwise highly enjoyable experience up to this point. System specs: Intel® Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.00 Ghz 8GB RAM WIndows 7 Home Premium Lenovo Temp while writing message ~50 degrees C Started up the program again after writing the message. First went to in-game video options and turned the frame rate way down and put graphics to minimum. Still shut the computer down. The thing was, I had CoreTemp visible while playing the game and I don't recall it going above 71 C. And the computer is not warm. I'd like to hear from someone associated with the game, because I basically got to play it for a couple days and now I can't play it anymore, and that makes me feel like I have been cheated.

  9. I also have this problem. It is definitely the game. When I start the game, as soon as I try to move the party it forces my computer to shut down, immediately. No blue screen, no warning. Just boom. I can have my computer on for 5 minutes or 15 minutes or 50 minutes but as soon as I try to play Pillars of Eternity it happens. So, it's not anything but the program. I have installed Afterburner and Rivatuner as suggested but it has not made a difference. It is possible I do not have them configured correctly. Hey I wanted a retro-experience so buying a game that doesn't work properly is part of that, am I right? But it really sucks. Does the company have a solution to this problem yet?
